I also noticed before this that trying to change any settings on on video expander couldn't save and would result in a "Fail" message.
Both cables, the 14 pin and the 12pin must be inserted properly from the VEX to the NerdSEQ.
Maybe the 14 pin cable is not good anymore? Surely try both slots (and never ever hotplug as that can kill things)
Also the video expander must be working already, the original firmware should be on the VEX SD Card (not sure if you copied everything).
Other things to consider: power supply and worst case a hardware issue with either the VEX or the NerdSEQ.
I assume a USB Keyboard is also not working then? I am trying to isolate some variables today, trying different cables and removing all other expanders. One thing I can't find is "the original firmware must be on the vex SD card" is there a place I can source the original vex firmware? I cannot find it

thanks so much! still no luck either with new firmware or starting fresh. My HDMI output now is also not outputting anything :[ I'll try some more torubleshooting steps but otherwise I will stop derailing this thread since problem has now escaped the scope of the new fw. def wish there were some kind of debug or log file to look at. expander is detected just no output and not able to save any settings without "Fail" message
EDIT: recovered! I wasn't initially clear to me that the zip file provided in the linked thread must be unzipped and files placed at root of VideoExpander SD card, back in business on stable firmware at least sorry again for derailing

If it doesn’t show anything then you didn’t prepare the sd-card properly. Must be formated with fat32 and the 4 files unpacked on the card.

yup, that was it, didn't realize that had had to be uncompressed and everything placed at root, I'm back in business!! thanks <3

I found another small bug:
In I2C Track Setup if you select 'B - TRGM' the status row at the bottom says 'B > EX.VOICE TRIG H'. This should be 'TRIG M' I guess...

I plan the release for next week, so keep on testing, try your older projects, check if the shader stuff works well etc etc.
And please leave your feedback here. Testing went well...testing didn't went well etc. I need all the information.
Thanks!

Currently moving houses but should be able to test shaders more intensively in the upcoming week!

Edit Reason: Edited to explain Feedback
)
I have been testing the shader integration, and haven't had any problems yet. I have created and implemented my some of my own shaders, one which uses all 8 modulators, as well as 2 rows of video sequencing. No problems.
Here is a link to a YouTube video I made to test out the shader integration: https://youtu.be/pJp5vA8LZS4
I am triggering envelopes on the kick and the "snare" hits. (first two bars from the left), and the third bar from the left just has random values assigned on pitch change for that voice. The fourth bar from the left is triggering a video envelope with a slow release, and the last bar is getting live cv input data from an attenuator (it reacts well).
Every bar, for the last two beats, I am switching shaders to a shader that displays "NERDSEQ", with the wording and the background being controlled by two different lfo's.
(Video feedback effect is coming from OBS, which I am using to capture the HDMI output)
Ssuggestion: It would be nice to have midi info as input for shader manipulation, but I found a way around that. (unless I am missing someting)
Super busy with real life and need more time to play around, but this is so much fun and very deep. Thanks.

Thanks! This is very nice.
You can have any input as shader manipulation (including Midi). The whole command set is also integrated in the mappings.
