v/oct tracking precision?

I am curious as to the precision of note values the NerdSeq is capable of. I have a decent meter with good precision and have calibrated my Seq according to the manual.
The 0.000v and -5.000v offsets are exact (no half-digit), the CV/Mod outputs are all exactly 0.000v and 10.00v (I chose the value balancing between 9.999v and 10.00v).
Unfortunately I'm having problems with tuning. I'm using a Tides (2018) as an oscillator, I am running that through a tuner and checking the CV voltage with my meter. On CV1 I have set up from C-0 to C-6 and trigger each one:
C-1 = 0.994v (7.2 cents flat)
C-2 = 1.998v
C-3 = 3.001v
C-4 = 4.006v (7.2 cents sharp)
C-5 = 5.008v (9.6 cents sharp)
C-6= 6.014v (16.8 cents sharp)
So from C-1 to C-6 there is a difference of 24 cents or 1/4 of a semitone. I admit my meter and math may be off.
I calibrated my non-pro KeyStep with the same meter and was able to get only 5mv difference between C1-C6, 6 cents total and stable, no sharps or flats through the octaves (C1 = 1.000v, C2=2.001v, ..., C6=6.005v). The difference between the KeyStep and NerdSeq is noticeable to my tuner and ear.
I tested all the CV outputs and some of the Mod outputs and the results are all over the place. CV5 out is the most accurate of my outputs across the octaves with only a cent or two variation.
Am I doing something wrong? What is the theoretical precision of the NerdSeq and component tolerances? I can dial in precise voltages using the Mod outputs and hex values, any reason the CV v/oct isn't as precise?
EDIT: I was mistaken, CV5 output isn't much more accurate than the rest, a few consecutive octaves are very close though. Still has 12 cent swings between octaves. I'm guessing the 12 bit nature of the NerdSeq is to blame? I hope I'm wrong.

(Increased) quantity of tables?

Especially with all of the features they’ve been gaining, I can imagine myself exhausting the available tables relatively soon.
(That said, I’m a relatively recent adopter of NerdSEQ (four months, give or take, and really only just now ramping up my usage) and so perhaps I’m just overestimating the number of tables I’d use.)
Has there been thought to supporting a greater number of tables, perhaps even if via a project-configurable trade-off against other things, whether patterns, patches, sample memory, or whatever options could be provided?
(In addition, or alternatively, I’d love to hear how many tables more experienced users tend to use, along with any available insight as to how to make the best of few.)

Were LDSJ Chains considered for NerdSEQ?

Purely out of curiosity, and not as an LSDJ user but rather just as someone learning some things about it in order to deepen my knowledge, provide more context to how NerdSEQ came to be the way that it is, etc...
Thomas, did you consider including Chains during the evolution of NerdSEQ? I’m curious as to the thought process that went into NerdSEQ reflecting so much of LSDJ but not Chains.
Thanks in advance for any insight you might be able to provide!

Hi all,
Are any of you using NERDSEQ CV recording for modulation? For instance, I would like to record modulation for "Morph" on my Basimilus Iteratis Alter. My voltage block doesn't have enough resolution for nice smooth curves, so it's really steppy, which is fine, depending on what sounds I'm going for. Not sure how NERDSEQ would fare relative to this? I think I would need something like a LEVIT8, which I saw in a Sonic Voltage Video?
Of course, I can draw nice curves in Ableton and use the CV outs on my ES-9 to send this to whatever module, which is very fun in it's own way, but I'm also trying to see what I can do out of the box, with just my Eurorack. I like the idea of having it all together - you know, NERDSEQ sequencing the beats, modulation and so on, versus it all coming from different places and hence being harder for me to keep track of...
Thanks!

Ableton & Nerdseq Clock Setup Question

Hi All,
I'm hoping some of you might chime in from your own experience, syncing Ableton and the NERDSEQ. I would like to see what approach has worked best for you.
For my setup, I have Ableton as master and using CV tools, I'm sending a signal for "clock" and "transport" through my d/c coupled interface (MOTU ULTRALITE MKIII) to a few eurorack modules using the 24 ppqn setting. I've been able to clock Pamela's and also Voltage Block just fine using this approach.
With the NERDSEQ, which came in a few days back, I've set it to receive clock via "Dinsync" (guided there by Thomas). When I mult the outputs from my MOTU to clock and reset on NERDSEQ, nothing happens. Starting Ableton starts PNW and Voltage Block and the sequencer on VB progresses at the expected rate.
Now, if I take an output of PNW, set it to gate and x24, then run this instead to the clock in on the NERDSEQ (keeping the reset from Ableton via MOTU), it works just fine. I'm not quite sure why I have to do the x 24 here, and not with the VB, and also not sure why the direct mult (i.e. from Ableton via MOTU) works fine with Pamelas and Voltage Block, but not the NERDSEQ. I would rather not spend one of my 8 Pamela's outputs doing, versus multing those outputs from Ableton and the MOTU audio interface.
I hope this makes sense. What am I missing, or what approach might be better? I would love to hear what you guys are doing.
For the studio setup, I want Ableton to be the Master. Once I get material for a gig, I would like to go DAW-less, but that will be further down the road.
Thanks!

Another Question From a New User |

Thanks to Thomas for giving the the clue about creating the project so I could save my patterns!
Now, I'm trying to write music into a Pattern.
Note Trigger
C-3 92 8th note
D-3 92 8th
E-3 92 8th
F-3 68 quarter note
Why these weird trigger values? Well, I was trying to calculate duration for the notes. Not realizing that my values would "RE-TRIGGER" I was thinking these would give me the durations of the notes. I wrote 34 notes into the pattern, and played it and realized that I was not getting DURATION, I was getting "RE-TRIGGERS" which DID equal the increased length of the note, but re triggering is obviously not the best way to increase the duration of the notes.
The song is very simple, it only contains 8th notes, quarter notes, half notes, dotted quarter notes, dotted half notes, and sixteenth notes.
So my question is: How do I get clean non retriggered duration differences that correspond to different note lengths?
Thanks!

CV input for live control over envelope settings

It would be extremely handy for purposes of sound animation to be able to use the CV input for live control over envelope and LFO settings, for example modifying attack time or sustain level etc... using a knob/slider from another module. Appreciate your great work, Nerdseq is fantastic!

Hi everyone,
New Nerdseq user here with a question. I have read the manual and searched the forum, so apologies in advance if this is addressed already. What I'm looking to do is use the CV input for live control over envelope settings, for example modifying attack time or sustain level etc... using a knob/slider on another module. So far I haven't found a way to route the CV in this way but based on the overview image on p8 of the manual, I suspect that it's either do-able or planned for the future (or perhaps the CV input -> envelopes is limited to triggers only for some reason?). Appreciate your suggestions on how to get this to work!

Hello,
I recently bought a NerdSeq and I'm having a lot of problems with the midi to CV function.
I am using the latest firmware 1.23 but I had the same problem in 1.22.
When I play on keyboard from my DAW (Logic) to the nerdseq input, very often the gates get stuck in ON position. CV pitch still OK but gate don't work anymore.
I always have to do a shift + stop to reset the gates (yep the sequencer is not in play mode).
It seems to me that this happens when I play legato.
Concerning legato, I haven't found any option for note priority, HIGHT or LOW. No mention in the manual either. it is however a common option.
By default only LOW note trig the gate output when i play legato.
When i play sequences from my DAW, for example on two tracks, one track with 1/16 arpeggio and the second track with a plated bass. many notes are lost from my arpeggio or are no longer played at all.
I have never had this type of problem with any other midi interface in the same conditions.
Do you have an idea of the problem? I'll be able to send videos if needed.
Thank you.
