First of all, NerdSeq is fantastic, thank you very much for your hard work XORadmin!
I just received my second 16CV expander and confused a bit how to connect them together.
Sorry if I missed it, but cannot find any info in the manual and forum topics.
Im playing around with automator clocking of tables and im experiencing some issues here.
I would like to pass to the next step of a table with an envelope to transpose an oscilator every time it plays.
I have an envelope triggered by my oscilator already and routed to the volume of this oscillator,
but this one is not fast enough to retrigger the table when two notes play close one to each other .
So i created a second envelope, very short, in the automator with an offset. with my oscilator also as the same source
(this should work?)
because "envelope1 start" as source seems not to retrigger until the first envelope has reach the end.
Now i can get what i want to work but only if this second envelope is routed to modulate also the volume of my oscilator and this create a click in the sound. If set on something else it wont trigger.
Its weird that the same source cannot trigger two different envelopes unless they have the same destination.
I dont know if this is normal.
Now i made another test, the second envelope is now a very slow triangle set to destination none, with the envelope1 start as source. It does trigger but when it cross to zero i would expect the table to jump to the next step but nothing happens.
Maybe it is related to the fact that the table clocking happens only on zero crossing?
Perhaps it would be better to happen anytime the wave is going from a negative to a positive value? as now the noise lfos seems not to be usable for this purpose.
Also an envelope divider in the automator settings might solve the problem(and its a free spot there).
I continue to investigate.
Anyone else trying to do something similar?
(if found a workaround already but i think it should work somehow with the envelope automators)
Hi. I've noticed where a track clock is a division of the main clock if I stop a track and restart it at a quantized point or at the start of the next 64 steps it can (most times) be slightly out of sync. It's late by a noticeable fraction of a step.
I'm testing with track 1 out to an oscillator with notes on normal clock and track 7 is on /2 time with the factory kick drum sample. I thought first it was the kick sample out of sync but swapping track 7 to normal clock and track 1 to the /2 track has the same effect with track 1 becoming slightly out of sync against the main clock (and steady kick drum).
Hello, i just got my hands on a NerdSeq and its amazing!
Im playing with the fm sounds now and i cannot achieve what i want.
i want to modulate slightly the decay of envelope 1 randomly and not the other parameters of the envelope.
How would you proceed to do this?
Im trying now either with a table in first modular track or directly in the fx column
(of modular track as well because seems to be no random in audio tracks?)
but no success yet...
is it a way to define the range of the random command?
(i cherched in the manual for range and random but could find only for transpose range)
i would like to do something like this:
fx1
------------
env1 400
rndm 001
but then the random to add only a value between 0 and A0 (to stay always in the decay range 400-4A0)
Possible?
(modulating envelope parameter from automators could be nice also, do you plan to add this? )
Anyway thank you Thomas for your work, its a really cool machine and im shure it will get better and better.
Only negative point i see now is that the navigation and editing could be improved in some ways but thats another subject
I admint I haven't installed the new FW but from what I've seen when you set the length of a pattern to be say 8 steps, the rest of the rows is still there, would it make sense to just hide them since we don't use them?
Right after the last big upate here another one again with some new stuff and fixes.
As usual some important information before you update:
- make a backup of your SD Card and especially of your projects
- Old Projects can simply be loaded with the new version
- Firmware updates always work, if it doesn't, then you did something wrong. Check the Firmware update FAQ for some infos.
- No worries, in case of any issues you can always go back to your earlier version!
- I totally can understand if you are disappointed if your long awaited feature request is not included in this update. I really do my best to get much new stuff in the releases and i keep track on all the hundrets of feature requests. I constantly update my 2do list and change priorities depending on many factors. Please read the FAQ in the forum to find out how i work and how i don't work. In the end, i can never please anybody. But i do my best to make it better each time.
Also note: Since the last versions the update will look a bit different around the end of updating. For most people the Progressbar will go back to 0 and some percent. That is totally fine and as long as it says 'Updating Succeed', then everything is fine.
Here are most of the changings / additions:
- Added new Sega Gamepad implementation with free button assignment
- Added gamepad trigger recording function
- Bugfix for weird BPM detections
- Added play Chord command for CV/Gate, Midi and CV16 Tracks
- Added euclidean input functions for the triggers of the local CV/Gate tracks
- Added shift up/down functions for the triggers of the local CV/Gate tracks
- Updated Mainclock edit
- Fixed sample slot scrolling
- Fixed possible weird behaviour when inserting sample sequences
- Fixed sample volume override
- Fixed non-working BRK override for trigger16 expander
- Bugfix for loading an old project with a filled sample memory
- Added groove counter. Shows if grooves are not equal with the groovesettings and patternlength
- CV input sampling improvement. Live passthrough on change only now.
- Table and Patch screens can now also directly entered when pressing OK (if enabled)
- Added TAP recording of triggers (using OK) if recording and on trigger column of a CV/Gate track
- Added sync on OK for mainclock
And some minor small things that came along the way or needed to be done...
The new firmware is attached here, download it, put it in your firmware folder and update following the usual firmware update instructions.
Also to be sure that you don't miss any feature or to know how it works, check the manual.
It can be downloaded here from this thread: https://forum.xor.eu/showthread.php?tid=897
Don't forget to spread the word, make videos, because that is what's needed to continue adding new features!!
And please do it...i am still waiting for some cool videos about the FM stuff etc
...and stay safe!
* UPDATE to V1.23A *
- Bugfix for a possible crash with the Retrigger command in the audio tracks when there was no sample loaded yet
- Improved Envelope triggering and retriggering from the audio tracks
- Slightly change of the Sega Gamepad readout timing
- Midi cursor recording will either insert a trigger or only note on/off depending on autogate setting
- Fixed Table tick offset from automators which works now with the zero offset as it suppose to do
