Support the MIDI-style I²C Note On/Off commands for, for example, Disting NT

Hi Thomas,
While trying to control the Expert Sleepers disting NT from the NerdSEQ, I ran into an interoperability issue.
Currently, the NerdSEQ appears to send the voice-specific form of the I²C Note On/Off protocol.
The Disting NT also supports the MIDI-like Note On/Off commands, which let the disting perform its own voice allocation (round-robin, voice stealing, etc.).
For instruments like the disting NT's Poly Multisample algorithm, it actually seems to not be able to trigger at all unless you send a custom note command (54,55,56)
Would it be possible to add an option, probably per I2C destination, to use the MIDI-style Note On/Off commands instead of the voice-specific ones?

Externally jumping to next / previous sequencer row with Mappings

Dear XORadmin,
I am trying to set up a way of externally jumping to next / previous sequencer row (with patterns on them).
Currently STRW only accept a hardcoded row number (RV00–RVFE). It would be very useful if it could accept a variable or row result as the destination row (perhaps a version of STRW under GLOB) – similar to how SLCT can select a track dynamically via VA..VP or RW00..RW45.
This would allow building a simple next/previous row navigator in mapping using a counter variable incremented/decremented by a button press, making live performance navigation much more flexible.
Thanks for considering!
Additionally, it would be very useful to have a mapping source that returns whether a sequencer row has patterns assigned.
A source like RHAS (Row Has Assigned Patterns) that returns a value 1-8 reflecting how many patterns the targeted sequencer row has assigned, and 0 if it is empty. This would allow conditional navigation – only jumping to a row if it actually has content, making it possible to skip empty rows automatically when navigating forward or backward through the sequencer.

I2C output value freeze on V03.01

Hi
I'm experiencing an I2C output value freeze on V03.01:
Hardware:
Sweet Sixteen mkii -> Nerdseq -> ER-301+Disting NT
Issue:
When trying to send a modified I2C output to ER-301 through mapping setup.
After a short while all output I2C freezes.
I can confirm in Disting NT, that it stops receiving I2C.
Nerdseq is still showing an output is sent inside mapping setup.
I found it with a more elaborate calculation in mapping setup, but it is also happening with the following setup:
Midi/I2C setup:
I2C A Mode: 16N->NS -16
I2C A In Address: Hex: 31 Dec: 49
I2C B Mode: Out Merge
I2C B In Address: Hex: 31 Dec: 49
Mapping setup:
I2C SCCV #15 > I2C B CV #25

MPE: Linnstrument -> NerdSeq -> Disting NT

Hey guys,
I don't know if this is achievable, but I feel like it should be.
Connecting a Linnsturument through the Multi-IO and using the TRS-A Out to a Disting NT would be such a dream compact setup, but I can't get the pitchbends to not bend every note even though they're being transmitted on different channels (?).
I'm not an expert on this, so not sure if my terminology is off a bit.
In the midi setup on the Nerdseq, I have Host Channel 2-9 (Linnstrument 2-9 are the Per Note Channels) all set up to send to the same track.
I can play the Disting polyphonically, but bending any note also bends every other note. I'm not certain if this is because the Nerdseq track itself kinda "smooshes" the forwarded channels together in order to forward the 8 incoming channels to the 4 outgoing.
Anybody have any ideas on how I could set this up?
I can do an actual midi cable straight from the Linn to the Disting, but then I lose all that Nerdseq goodness.

It's been a while since the last release candidate and my planned release has been delayed. What also happened is that I added even more features, refactored some parts to gain more performance and fixed the few issues with the RC1.
So lets start again with a new release candidate V3.01 RC4 (skipped the internal RC2 and RC3).
Here are all changes:
Audio
- refactoring of the sample and audio engine to gain some more performance
- added loop, pinpong and frame + loop/pingpong functionality for samples.
- added loop start/end/frame positions as a shortcut SHIFT+OK+Increment/Decrement
- added mapping destinations for samples (AUDI SP0-11 START/END/POS) to change the start, end or both
- added resampling screens for the samples so if a sample is too long (or manually by loading the sample with SHIFT+OK) a lower samplerate can be selected
- loading samples in a lower samplerate (allows a longer sampletime) can be selected with or without interpolation
- added 24 and 32bit PCM and float sample support, fixed some sample loading issues
- added Kill command for samples
- added play sample X on audio channel Y for I2C/Multi tracks drummatrix
- added sample OSC mode. If a sample is set to one of the loop options then it can either act like an oscillator (keeps looping) or stops when a track is stopped.
- changed sample wavefile prelisten so it stops only when SHIFT is being released instead of a toggle
Envelopes
- added additional exponential envelope responses (experimental, choose LIN/EXP with envelopetype.)
- updated retrigger behaviour with ADSR envelopes so they are more equal to a typical analogue functionality
Mapping
- fixed mapping 'add pending table ticks' will work also now with XMAP
- added mapping table destinations to fire/restart and stop tables on tracks
- Added new mapping XMAP source command: XSHT is a 1 shot multi row XMAP depending on the raising state of the former row
- Added new mapping XMAP 1Shot destination commands: Multi row XMAP depending on the raising, falling or on change of the source
General
- added a basic Scope (Setup->NerdScope) with 1 trigger (no trig, raising, falling, changing edge) and 4 channels. The input/trigger values are received though the new mapping destinations Global -> SCTV (for the trigger input), SCP1-4 (for the channel input). The 'timebase', enabled channels, trigger level and type can be changed in the scope screen.
- fixed sequencer screen possible glitches on lowest rows (EF-FE)
- added 'delete projectfile' which moves a projectfile to the backup folder
- fixed patch editing for Multi/I2C FX. Fixed create patches, added regular patch editing for I2C tracks
- fixed 'CBPB clock now 1xx' problem which caused an 'out of sync' if switching to dividers
- fixed issue that a new clock or patternorder would be activated already when pressing START to cue something instead of with the upcoming pattern
- fixed local trigger indicator in video pattern
- replaced unused Track 'pattern start position' mapping destination with 'Fire Patch' (TRCK TRKx PTCH) destination. Patch defined by former row
- fixed inconsistency with the sequencer screen use of the last edited pattern
- fixed pattern screen update if euclidean is being changed (showed accidentally on the Launchpad)
- added colours will now also be copied/pasted on the sequencer screen
- added VEX connected PC Keyboard to Midi routing which adds the full support of the midi in functions but then for the PC Keyboard (including polyphony, recording etc) (Setting in the Midi/I2C setup screen. PC Keyboard > Midi Input Port/Channel X and in the general routing you use port/channel x then to be used as track record etc just like it is a midi device).
- fixed possible wrong finetune scaling if 'avoid' was selected for local cv/gate
- updated many copy+paste parts for patterns which adds more 'compatible to each other' fields
- fixed user interface import/export which didn't save the 'Window Lines' colour properly
- fixed track and drum matrix mute and solo with the PC-Keyboard
- added uppercase functionality for all written characters (User Interface screen)
- fixed accidentally change of the trigger type when increasing/decreasing euclidean values in the modular trigger column
MIDI
- fixed hanging MIDI scale note
- added user harmonics from MIDI keyboard (Midi Input Setup Detsination). Changes a new scale (5A/90) to the midi keyboard pressed notes.
- fixed stop of midi notes when entering the midi pattern screen via OK
Trigger16
- added a per-column destination and triggertype for the T16 drum matrix
- updated Trigger16 triggertypes to fully match the local triggers (needs Trigger16 Firmware V1.1 update)
DualChord
- fixed missing note off/gate off issue with dualchord on pattern stop
- fixed 'set dualchord trigger' command
- fixed dualchord trigger to 'other' destinations than the dualchord itself
- added random trigger types to DualChord matching the local track options
- fixed missing (not working) chord types for the 2nd dualchord part (needs Dualchord Firmware V1.3 update)
Tables
- fixed table editing for the transpose column
- fixed table bug where tables using >>> and zero selected allowed notes would cause an endless loop = freeez
- fixed table transposition with and without quantization
- fixed random table transpose (random seed issues)
- changed default for midi tables to 'no retrig' for all 16 rows
Files
- added alphabetical sort of directories (enable in setup screen)
- fixed retries when no sd card could be found
- added additional save test in case of incomplete or incorrect project saves
- added compile time as the save file time
- the save file time is now set to the compile time
As usual, this is a release candidate. It is not intended for productive use as I can't guarantee that they are no unexpected side effects. Also saved projects will guaranteed work for the release version but are not backwards compatible to load with 3.00 or earlier. So be aware to backup your projects / SD Card first!!! (Which is something you should do anyways from time to time)
But with installing it and trying it out/testing you help getting the version ready for stable use. I aim as usual to release as soon as possible.
Please report any issues with that only in this thread here as this is not a stable version.
Download the release candidate below, follow the firmware update rules and if you get stuck there and it doesn't work, read the many threads about it and it will be fine!! Updating the NerdSEQ always works!

Midi destinations on I2C / Multi-functional Track

I'm currently running all my drums and other samples via MIDI in the drum matrix of a 2C / Multi-functional Track, and I was wondering if it would be possible to include assigning MIDI notes, MIDI triggers and MIDI CC for the first 6 columns in the I2C / Multi-functional Track, just like one can do in the Drum Matrix for the next release? Would be really helpful for my setup.

Groove Presets

I would like to request file import and export of groove presets or open a thread about groove presets.
otherwise something like 64 groove presets could become tight -
as of now i have 64 different groove settings that are musically relevant to the way nerdseq works,
as a teaser let me just give you the 16th note swings, i haven't seen this documented too much on here.
66 No Swing
75 58.3% Swing, very close to MPC 58% swing and Septuplet swing (4:3) great for house.
84 66.6% Triplet Swing, close to the MPC 67% Swing setting
93 75% Dotted Swing, (3:1 ratio) like MPC 75% swing.
A2 83,3% Swing. Extreme Swing close to quintuplet.
B1 91.6% Swing Maximum Swing, almost like a Flam
the same goes in reverse,
57 Pushed / Reverse Swing, very urgent
48 Reverse Triplet, Gallop
39 Reverse Dotted
2A Extreme Push
1B Reverse Flam
for 8th note swings there are between 16-24 relevant combinations plus their reversions
including the often looked for 8844 for triplets like on the old TR-606
8-digit codes for septuplets and 16 digit/32digit/64 digit/128 digit presets for risset rhythms, fibonacci and such.
so having these hopefully editable presets available will be populated very very quickly and thankfully
people don't recognize the nerdseq enough for the fact that it is possible to have each track running on a different groove timing. which is nearly impossible on most other trackers!
PLUS it's possible to use the swing parameter in the main menu on top of whats going on! that's so insane!
having said that it would be nice to try existing patterns with all of these without hammering them into each project file without importing 64 individual patterns every time.
OR: if a pattern file already stores the groove data, can the groove import function, only import the groove portion of the pattern? that would help too.
