  [NO BUG] MIDI Jumping
Posted by: Professor.suspect - 05-14-2021, 03:45 PM - Forum: Beauty and less important bugs/glitches - Replies (4)

Hi! I have a Synth connected via MIDI. It has the 4/4 voices. 3/4 do work fine. When i add the 4th note, the 3th and 4th swap in ranking importance sometimes. So C D E F becomes C D F E. Otter example: When i have D3 D4 A4 D4 the second D4 wont send. I cant figure out what im doing wrong. I already thought about controlling them just over CV 1-4.

Thank You for your help!
The Prof.

Hey Thomas, how is the Dualchord expander coming along? Any news about it?

it seems and not just on my nerdseq that the autos lfo is not working normally.  Indeed, it never goes down in a negative voltage creating a strange shape

How to cancel/end a track transpose?
Posted by: mgd - 05-07-2021, 08:23 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (5)

Hi Forum,

I'm playing with transposing patterns and for that I use IN4 and have configured Input 4 Live to TRANSPOSE ALL. That works like a charm.

Now I stop the sequencer and my transposable tracks end up with a transpose still active, e.g. +07. When I now work on some other part of the song I want to get rid of this transpose. Is there a button or menu function I could/should invoke? Or should I create a special pattern that does reset the transpose by specifically transposing by 00 (i.e. sending C-5 to IN4) and that I do invoke manually (by positioning the cursor on this pattern and hitting START)?
[this later technique is what I use currently and it seems to work but I'd like to know if there is another way]

While playing with this I observed the following behaviour:
A fairly low note (working on a bass line), e.g. E-4, transpose active as described above. Then I unplug the transpose CV from IN4, effectively setting it to 0V which changed the track transpose to -3B (or so). This resulted in a very high note (something like A-9 or so) being played. I'd assume the math involved in transposition does some form of "round robin" arithmetics (i.e. it forms a ring). When I go below the lowest note I reenter from above the highest note.

Is that observation correct and is it intended?

I'm currently undecided whether I do like that or not Smile

Kind regards,
Michael

  Trigger to follow sample slot?
Posted by: T3t_one - 05-07-2021, 08:00 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (1)

Hello, wondering how does one go about having a trigger fire, dependent on a sample slot state?

For example, sample slot 5 hits, track 1, trigger also fires.

Does it have to be the other way around or is it not possible at all?

Thanks.

  Euclidean over midi?
Posted by: LostForWords - 05-05-2021, 05:41 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (1)

Is it possible to use a drum-matrix style pattern on a more triggers track (or elsewhere) but send those 8 triggers out via midi notes in order to play an external drum machine and use the euclidean pattern composing tools currently in the more triggers tracks?

I was thinking a track set up page (a bit like the one for the more cv) where you could assign T1 to go out of Midi channel 1 note C1 for bass drum for example. e.g. to conform to general midi percussion notes or whatever note is wanted depending on drum machine used.

  Midi Setup Column Select
Posted by: Karlo - 05-04-2021, 06:50 PM - Forum: Feature requests - Replies (2)

Loving the latest release. I'm recording into the separate columns of a midi track on track 8 (thank you so much for this Easter egg).

I have my midi channels in the project settings set up and I have the proper midi channel overrules all set up in the track set up screen to send on separate channels.

I use the nerd menu to select which column I would like to record to.

It would be awesome if I could just select the column's defined overrule channel from my midi controller to record to that column instead of having to use the nerd menu to select the column. Just a suggestion.

Thank you.

Is it possible to use MOD for transposition and retain table and scale support?
Posted by: mgd - 05-02-2021, 08:33 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (1)

Hi forum,

I have a working setup that allows me to transpose patterns using one of the CV outputs patched into one of the inputs.

However for it to work I have to switch CV outputs to 0V/10V instead of -5/+5 which is my preference.

I understand that I could setup transposition using the MOD outputs and explicitly setting specific values. I could also use the new ADD/SUB/MULT/DIV functions and probabilities etc. which gets me a long way. However it is my understanding that I would loose the stuff tables bring to the table (couldn't resist Wink ), namely restricting notes/transpositions to certain predefined scales. I also would have to newly figure out transposition timin, but that is a different topic.

Is there a way to do that with MOD or do I have to accept that I have my CV outs set to 0V/10V?

Kind regards,
Michael

  Arpeggiate Midi Notes?
Posted by: wasoota - 05-01-2021, 03:45 PM - Forum: General Questions - No Replies

Hi all

I'm loving my NerdSeq, over and over again I'm amazed by the genius of it's design, and it keeps getting better. I have to admit though I'm using it for Midi a lot more than it was probably originally designed for, so I'm super stoked that midi has been getting as much love as everything else.

That said, one thing I've been unable to do with midi effectively is arpeggiate. On a CV-track I'd use a table but they are not implemented in midi atm (it also would be nice to have an ARP-command).

Am I missing something or is there a workaround? I've been thinking of using a table on a 'dummy' CV-track and modulating the note on the midi track from there, but even if that worked, I get a feeling that would introduce more issues than it solves...

Thanks for any pointers or ideas!
