  Bend it like Rene' ?
Posted by: mntbighker - 04-08-2021, 04:03 AM - Forum: General Questions - No Replies

Anybody care to start a discussion on replicating some of the sequencing options in Rene' 2 with a Nerdseq? Or a Nerdseq plus some other hardware? Snake mode? I'll simply never have a Nerdseq AND a Rene'. I'll never have that HP available.

  External Controllers/Com/Ps2/USB Ports?
Posted by: Jacen - 04-06-2021, 03:02 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (4)

Hi there XOR,

So since you guys have the sega controller port, was curious how that implementation works?
I am very into DIY and making my own stuff, was curious it was possible with how you coded and made the NerdSeq
to code a keyboard with the old style ports? Or if USB midi implementation is possible.
I'm assuming some sort of secondary controller on said port module.

Just throwing some thoughts out there.

Wink My NerdSeq Journey! Purchased: 4-4-2021
Posted by: Jacen - 04-05-2021, 11:27 PM - Forum: Your Setup - Replies (7)

Hi everyone! Been a hobby producing and into production for about 12 years now.
I just learned about trackers like last week and got into euro briefly in 2014.
Fast forward 6 years and I'm going back to hardware from DAW work. Can not sit down.

Current I have 6U in a custom rackmount I make with aluminum sides and a back plate for power mounting including a 4 hp switch slot.

I have a order from Digikey, right now with 5 rails coming, don't know why i didnt get 6, of 84hp.

Going to make a 3u + Pulp Logic 1U with those rails as my controller box.

Going to use the SEQ with my eurorack 1 or 2 voices and MicroMonsa for an 8 voice synth.

Just wanted to say hi and think I found a love for Tracker Software, been messing with ReNoise.

Cheers!

  Typo on V1.23 manual
Posted by: franckdw - 04-03-2021, 08:50 PM - Forum: General Questions - No Replies

Hi,

There is a minor typo on p59 in the V1.23. Considering the picture on p58,

« for the example in the picture, there is a 00 filled in on row 03. Which means when the sequencer
passes row 03 it will jump back to 00. Note that it doesn’t play the row with the hop but
jumps directly to the new row and plays it. In this case it will be a 3 step sequence (one
shot) or it will iterate between the 3 steps if the loop setting is endless or restart. »

should be

«for the example in the picture, there is a 00 filled in on row 06. Which means when the sequencer
passes row 06 it will jump back to 00. Note that it doesn’t play the row with the hop but
jumps directly to the new row and plays it. In this case it will be a 6 steps sequence (one
shot) or it will iterate between the 6 steps if the loop setting is endless or restart. »

  Clock question
Posted by: pmarchitect - 04-03-2021, 11:14 AM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (7)

Hi all,

When most patterns are 4 bars, and I have one pattern which is 1 bar, how do I reset the clock so the bar at the top goes back to the start so that the next patterns will all start in time?

Thanks

  Accumulate, Metropolix style?
Posted by: mosorensen - 04-01-2021, 03:54 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (33)

Can NerdSeq do something like the "Accumulate" feature from the new Metropolix sequencer?

The idea is that  it plays a note sequence, and one of the notes changes every time the sequence is played. For example, the pitch of the fourth note in the sequence could increase chromatically until it eventually resets. The other notes are unchanged.

I am thinking that it should be possible to use a combination of a table and FXs to do something similar in NerdSeq, but my table and FX skills are very limited. Can anybody help?

Music My little hillside setup!

Here’s a pic of the studio, up in the Oakland Hills.

Can’t believe the little NERDSEQ is (when DAW-less) the brain behind not only the modular, but also the rest of the MIDI gear - from pedals to polysynth!  And here’s my IG which hosts my little sound experiments:

  Just finished my DIY case
Posted by: mewraz - 03-31-2021, 12:47 PM - Forum: Your Setup - Replies (3)

I initially wanted the Intellijel 7U stealth case, but they are really hard to get and cost quit a lot of money. So I decided to go the DIY route. With the help of a friend and his great skills and woodworking workshop, some of mine soldering skills, this is what came out on the other side.
Oak, 7U 104hp, 3A.

Soldering the bus boards took too long time to justify the little money saved by doing DIY. For the next case I will go for already assembled stuff.

  CV16 envelopes revisited
Posted by: mgd - 03-30-2021, 12:40 PM - Forum: NerdSEQ Expanders - Replies (1)

Hi forum!

Today my 2nd CV16 arrived (hear, hear  Cool ) and that got me to revisit my use of modulators in general and envelopes in particular.

I understand the CV16 sports 8 envelopes and 8 LFOs that are setup and configured through the Track Setup screen which in turn is accessed from the Nerd Menu. So far so obvious.
[I'd like a translation of the various numerical values into ms/s for durations and V for voltages in the info line at the bottom of the screen, but that's something for a feature request]

What I would like to know (and I have not seen that in the manual but may very well have overlooked it) is, whether entering ^11, ^21, ^31, ..., ^81 in a note column of a pattern of a CV16 track does access/trigger the envelope of the CV16 or the corresponding envelope of the NerdSEQ automators (i.e. the main module).

I assume it is the CV16 envelope. Can someone confirm or correct me here?

If it is not the CV16 envelope: How would I access the CV16 envelope (or LFO) then?
If is is the CV16 envelope: How would I access the NerdSEQ automators (not that I think I'd need it but I'd like to know anyway Wink )?

Another question regarding the envelopes:
From the graphs I deduce attack and release are linear. Is that correct?
And how would I get exp behaviour? [or is this feature request material?  Cool ]

Kind regards,
Michael

  Pam as master?
Posted by: mntbighker - 03-30-2021, 04:30 AM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (5)

What is the preferred setting in Pam's to clock the Nerd these days? If I set Pam to 1X and NS to MOD.CLOCK I get the LED's blinking at the same rate, and the sequence seems to advance somewhere between the times the Pams/NS lights are off. The clock output seems to be 180 degrees out of phase from the clock in. Meaning the out clock out is lit at opposite times from the clock in. If I set MOD.CLOCK24 and Pam's to 6X I get about the same thing. So the bottom line is I'm not confident I have it set properly. Pam's is set to 24PPQn. If NS is advancing while Pam's light is off and other things clocked with Pam are moving when the light comes on, I would think I have a timing issue.
