  MIDI Re-Triggers
Posted by: broecker - 03-02-2021, 03:10 PM - Forum: Feature requests - Replies (9)

Would love to see a MIDI note re-trigger FX with it allowing us to either re-trigger all 4 notes or any combination of the 4 notes for when using the 4 note lanes for 4 different midi destinations.

Thank you!

  Pattern launch behaviour
Posted by: jlamores - 02-28-2021, 12:09 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (12)

In the screenshoot I have attached you can see the Sequencer view. If I press "Shift + Start" the song begins:
The first track repeats only the patterns from steps 00 and 01 in loop. While the second and third tracks plays all the patterns from top to down.
When I reach to step 07, the first track doesnt play it, and continues looping steps 00 and 01.
Is there a way to launch the first track on step 07?

[NO BUG] Midi track and local trigger out
Posted by: theotteryears - 02-28-2021, 12:19 AM - Forum: Beauty and less important bugs/glitches - Replies (1)

Using a midi track to send a column to a drum machine (via midi expander) but also using a column to send a 10ms trigger to CV6 output. The trigger does not send if the midi note its attached to is the same as a note before.

I was hoping I could just use a spare midi column to send a trigger out of the unused CV outputs (I don't need them for pitch).

Is this working as it should? I can get it to work but I have to alternate each hit between C-0 and C-5...

  My small NerdSEQ case

I picked modules from my bigger case to build this. I quite enjoy it! I might refine it.

  Manual (V1.23) and Euclidean Rhythm
Posted by: franckdw - 02-23-2021, 08:42 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (1)

Hi!

I noted a few typos in the V1.23 manual on my discovery journey … It may be me though as I am new to the NerdSEQ. Let me know if this is not the proper place to post this.

  • p5: "Euclidean input for Rhythm composing (currently only with Trigger16 Expander)" - No longer the case as Euclidean input can be used without the Trigger 16 Expander
  • p23: "Another input possibility is to insert Euclidean patterns into the trigger sequences. For that you need to use the buttons SHIFT+LEFT/RIGHT to increase or decrease the euclidean pattern amount." It seems that it should be SHIFT+ OK + LEFT/RIGHT
  • p23 as well: "Using SHIFT UP/DOWN the trigger column can be directly shifted either up or down while the values are wrapping around." It seems as well it should be SHIFT + OK + UP/DOWN

Thanks!

Which voltage is or should be which note?
Posted by: mgd - 02-23-2021, 04:29 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (1)

Hi forum,

in another thread a fellow NerdSEQ user wrote:

Quote:Not to mention setting up the midi offset because [the Elektron Analog] Rtyms [MkII] C-0 is (IMO) really C-1

That made me rethink my anchoring of notes. For notes both local CV as well as on the CV16 I use bipolar mode (-5 - +5) which means C-0 gives -5V, C-5 gives 0V and C-A results in +5V. Since most of my VCOs are tuned such that 0V yields C (~64Hz) my tonal material is mostly in the range from C-5 to C-9. In that scale middle C is C-7 and Kammerton A @440 Hz would be A-7.

That's all fine as long as I'm in the realm of my VCOs.

I have yet to start using MIDI with the NerdSEQ (waiting for the USB MIDI adapter; I'm not into gamepads but do own a lot of USB MIDI gear). But this leads quite obviously to the question:
Which MIDI note (as in Note# as of the MIDI protocol) results is which Note as of the NerdSEQ?

Or phrased differently:
MIDI Note# 69 (Kammerton A - 440Hz) results in which Note in the NerdSEQ MIDI Pattern Screen?

As a consequence I may or may not wish to retune my VCOs or find solution to align my MIDI gear and my VCOs (in case there's a discrepancy)

What do others do or use?

Kind regards,
Michael

  Retrigger/Ratchet Question
Posted by: Karlo - 02-22-2021, 02:23 AM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (14)

I use a table [00] to multiply my clock.

Do I need to use another table [01] to turn set it back to not multiply on another step?

I need to use 2 tables to turn on and off ratching per step?

Thanks,

Karlo

Anyone willing to share FM patches/settings?
Posted by: mgd - 02-21-2021, 01:31 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (2)

Hi Forum!

I've started playing with the FM operators by following the example in the manual. I think I have a basic idea as to how I would have to continue along that path.

However I'd like to ask if anyone of you guys came up with some nice patch ideas and is willing to share them or give hints/guidelines beyond what is in the manual.

Kind regards,
Michael

What are y'all using for CV Input control
Posted by: Karlo - 02-21-2021, 03:11 AM - Forum: General Questions - No Replies

I'm still trying to tame this beast.

What do you guys use in the CV inputs to record to a mod track? Has anyone used an attenuator with an offset to dial in some knob movements to record to the mod lane?

I understand it's stepped, just wondering if I can turn a knob over a few steps and have it record that modulation into just those the steps?

Can you hear the modulation destination change as you live record from the CV inputs?

I don't have an attenuator to try this, I'm just curious what y'alls experience has been.

Thanks,

Karlo

Edit: Hmmmm, using an LFO, it doesn't appear like you can pass the CV in to the modulation output and monitor it live. You can only record and even then you can't hear the result until after its been recorded. Bummer.

Being able to monitor CV input prior to or during live recording would be a game changer here.
Kinda disappointed... or am I missing something?

Is this something already mentioned in the feature request sub forum?

  Table FX labeling
Posted by: Karlo - 02-21-2021, 02:23 AM - Forum: Feature requests - Replies (1)

Can we get the FX type/name to show up at the bottom of the screen in tables like we can in the pattern screen? Right now I can't tell what the FX is by the 4 letter code or what I'm doing. The Pattern screen tells you what the FX is at the bottom and it is very helpful.
