Hi, just got the Nerdseq from Thomas recently and I am very impressed by the possibilities and blown away. It’s really amazing.
Most things I can figure out and are unfolding itself to me, but there is one thing which I can not seem to find:
MIDI
I’m routing MIDI from my soundcard via Ableton to the Nerdseq to be able to play melodies with my Push controller. This is working pretty nicely already! But at the moment its midi recording seems locked to track 1. Is it possible to change the track which is receiving the midi notes already? Or will this be implemented in a future firmware update?
For some reason most of the samples I put into the device sound distorted and horrible.
Im taking samples of stuff I have lying around as a test, none of which are in the format this device uses. Im converting the files to 16bit wav files at 44.1 using multiple different programs. trying to make sure they are mono.
If I export from reason: horrible distortion
If I export from audacity: slight distortion, unusable
If I export from Reaper64: Horrible blood boiling distortion
Im assuming im doing something wrong, but i don't know what.
I've been pouring through the documentation and I've come to the conclusion that there's no way to have the sequencer automatically stop, is that correct? The closest I could come would be to put a looping empty pattern at the end of my pattern chain and stop it manually while it's playing the empty pattern, is that right? If so, is there any thought to adding a "stop the sequencer" command (like maybe pattern FF or something)?
Hello, Im a new user of the nerdseq. Im instantly very happy with it. its obvious this is an extremely deep module, but Im only 1 day in so I apologize for the nooby question.
Is this changeable? Do the patterns strictly go down the list only, or can you set up a different chain of events for later parts of songs?
in the manual its stated "
Chained patterns (next under each other) are automatically chained and play after each other and from the chain begin again once the chain ends.
Don’t know if it’s suggested already (didn’t find with search).
It would be nice to change highlight of every X row to keep up and understand better where your beats are going.
BTW, new here, hello, and I have to say that NerdSEQ is killer!!!
since this is pending since a while (yes Superbooth eats much time and energy) and i still have to finish some stuff, you can get a sneak-peak to the coming firmware with many additions, fixes, much fun and more..
Please be aware that this is not a productive version, so small things might change with the final release version, other things might not work fully yet and might even cause crashes. It needs finetuning here and there. Also not all features/fixes that i have on my list are included yet. Please don't ask for any features, i got a list fixed for this release.
This is not a Release Candidate, so not everything is cross tested yet...
Saving from this version is not compatible with older versions and vice versa. (Loading from old projects will be fine with the release version of course)
So don't try to load your old projects, it might be a mess....and even more, don't save these then To be sure, make a backup before updating your firmware (as you have the SD in your computer anyway)
You can always get back to a stable older firmware version if needed.
So what to expect for this one:
- Automation slots, adds LFO's and routable CV inputs for many manipulations of many destinations (through a modulation matrix)
- Added Automation slot parameters as FX
- Visible tables in pattern screen
- All Pattern play from within a pattern (SHIFT+START)
- Simple Screensaver
- Clone patch by using SHIFT+OK (+ fix of clone pattern from project screen)
- Added Offset FX command for samples
- Note prelisten when pressing OK (or hold SHIFT+OK when changing the value)
- Note scales from the MOD outputs (Below FFF are the notes for all octaves, no triggering or note-off involved)
- snappier screen change
...and much more little stuff behind the screens
...and more to come as not everything from my list is implemented yet
Biggest thing is the automation which adds a new dimension to the NerdSEQ. Slots can even be a source for other slots. Also, when applied to the samples pattern-length time stretching and more is possible...much fun is guaranteed!!
I will work on the manual to get some of the new features explained and will also do a sneak-peak version for this in the next days.
Just a usefull feature i would love to see, but i'm new to Nerdseq, and still scratching the surface.. so forgive me if it's already implemented...
Would be nice to be able to select a step, press shift and input the note value on my master keyboard....
I love the ability to record it live, but because my keyboard playing is what it is, being able to correct mistakes on the fly this way would be a nice touch.
Other thing, perhaps more related to my own master keyboard and its velocity sensitivity.... but when i do live recording, most of the time i get more note off command than propper note on command on it... is this a behaviour that can be easily fixed?
