This is a weird one but easy enough to reproduce. Inside a PATCH, I cannot set an LFO value greater than 7. It seems to apply to all the options (speed, amplitude) but type does work since it only goes to 7 anyway.
Apologies for the newbie question but I'm struggling to find any answers or videos about this.
I have a drum pattern programmed using samples in the audio tracks. I want to set some probability over whether a particular sample will play or not - for example, a kick drum sample may only fire on row 04, for 40% of the time.
I can't figure out how to do this. Any tips, links much apprciated!
Hello there,
If this thread has not its place in this subforum please feel free to move it where it belongs .
I recently updated my nerdseq to the 2.01 firmware and I'm super duper pleased with the mapping interface and the ability to jam with the euclidian drummatrix and a midi controller.
But I was wondering if it were possible to set a default "first" row (or a first row shifting function per track if that make sense) for each drummatrix track in euclidian mode?
At the moment if I create a pattern and fill a track using the euclidian function, the first step is always on row 0.
but as an example: lets say I have 16steps pattern with a kick drum on track 1, Hats on track 2 and snare on track 3.
I want my default first rows to be:
- row 0 for kick,
- row 2 for the hats,
- row 4 for the snare.
by doing this I can either "mute" the track by removing all the euclidian steps, very easily come back to a classic beat with off-beat hats and a snare on 2nd and 4th beat, but still being able to use all the power of the euclidian filling.
I tried to find an answer or a workaround by reading the manual but maybe I missed something or it is simply not possible (at the moment?).
So I finally got around to getting my modular set back up and decided I should dive in to the nerdseq. I have the trs a midi expander and wanted to see what was what with the Roland aria tb-3. I can’t seem to make heads or tails of how to make a slide happen. The Roland manual has the slide function set to cc 102. So far I’ve had no luck using this cc. I remember looking into this a long while back and finally got it to work by using two midi lanes and having a note overlap. I did that with the polyend tracker somehow but unfortunately can’t access that anymore because it died. So here I am trying to figure out slide on this. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. Also would appreciate any nerdseq tutorials that focus just on mid would be great. It’s been almost two years since I’ve done anything with music and I feel like I’ve forgotten more than I retained over the years.
Just asking a silly question. How am I supposed to fully utilise the 16 CV outputs of the CV16 expander with only 6 channels available in the sequencer (CV16 page) dedicated to those outputs?
Is there a way to get a trigger out from all midi lanes in a midi track? I know clone to modular sends lane 1, but I have a random polyphonic midi track going and I’d like an external envelope to be triggered each time a midi note is played from any lane.
I'd appreciate it if someone can give me some good tips on sample sizes (or formats) to get the most out of the sample player on the NS. I often find myself stuck with only two or three samples before it says too full. And, I'm also talking about the samples that come with the NS, not just my own.
Maybe there could eventually be a small 'how to use best' in the manual for some tips and tricks? I also often end up with very quiet sounds too, but that just might be the nature of the beast, and if so, well that's life.
When using a USB keyboard with the More Video/IO expander, if I select “New Project” under the Project screen, I’m prompted to press Start to confirm. Pressing Start with the USB keyboard won’t work. I need to use the module’s built-in keypad.
Also, and I’m not sure if this is a bug report or a feature request, but the manual says that to execute the Mark and Copy/Paste operations with the USB keyboard, it should be done with “CTRL+C” and “CTRL+V” respectively. On my keyboard, this only works with the left CTRL key, not the right. It would be nice to be able to do it with either. If this behavior is intended (perhaps the right CTRL key is reserved for future use), then I recommend tidying up the language in the manual.
Thanks again for all the great work on the NerdSEQ. I upgraded to v2.01 just today and played around with it for another few hours afterwards. It’s the heart and soul of my modular rig and a joy to use.
Another Firmware update V2.01 which was also initially planned as a maintenance update. But in the end I added again some new nice stuff.
As usual my little 'disclaimer' with some important information before you update:
- make a backup of your SD Card and especially of your projects
- Old Projects can simply be loaded with the new version
- Firmware updates always work, if it doesn't, then you most probably did something wrong. Check the Firmware update FAQ for some infos.
- No worries, in case of any issues you can always go back to your earlier version (but can't load projects that have been saved with V2.01 without any side-effects)!
- I totally can understand if you are disappointed if your long awaited feature request is not included in this update. I really do my best to get much new stuff in the releases and i keep track on all the hundrets of feature requests. I constantly update my 2do list and change priorities depending on many factors. Please read the FAQ in the forum to find out how I work and how I don't work. In the end, I can never please
anybody. But I do my best to make it better each time.
