Per-track disable of pattern chaining

I had a thought about pattern chaining: What if you could enable/disable it per track?
Something like on track 1 and 2 you have a longer melody and bassline that span multiple patterns and so you want them to chain to make a nice long 256 step melody or whatever..
but over on track 8 you have drums in a drummatrix, with 8 patterns each with a different variation. If you were performing with a launchpad you'd have access to all 8 variations on the launchpad at once without having to scroll.

How do I single step the seq with an external trigger?

Running v2.0 C, only a midi I/O attached but nothing connected to it.
I want to advance the sequencer a single step using an external trigger, hopefully using Clock IN.
I tried sending single pulses to the clock inout jack, setting Clock IN to MOD.CLOCK, but it doesn't work right.
When I send a trigger to Clock IN, it steps once, but the next pulse advances two steps,
One step, then two, one, then two... consistantly.
I tested with several trigger sources and it always does this on the leading edge of the trigger.
There's a little delay between the steps when it does the two step, it's not immediate.
What's the simple way to do this? I don't want to use a midi clock,
a divide by 24 counter, or something in the sequence definition,
just a simple single step trigger.
Do need to change something else in a default new project?

Fixed pattern length despite random jumps?

Sorry to spam the forum today! Following along on this randomness tutorial has been great to help me learn some things about the module. I've already solved two challenges thanks to XOR Admin, but with every bit of progress I discover something new!
I'm using the Special FX command "random jump" (SPFX 00C) to get a random sequence going from a short pattern, only 8 steps. After this pattern, it should move to the next one which is new, non random pattern. My issue is with the timing. The first pattern will move to next pattern right after playing its final row. Since the first pattern is jumping to a random row with each clock "beat", it doesn't move to the second pattern after 8 beats, but after a random number of beats. As soon as the last row of the first pattern plays, it moves to the next pattern. This puts the second pattern out of sync with the rest of the project because it starts on a random beat (instead of after 8 beats).
(I know I could also use the CBPB command for playing the steps in a random order, but the reason that doesn't work for me is in this thread).
So my question is - is there a way to force my pattern to play 8 steps before moving on, despite having the random jumps from the SPFX command?

Envelope staying open after stopping everything

hey nerds,
I tried to find this answer in the manual, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?
I have a CV going out from track one to an oscillator. Envelope 1 in the nerdseq automation screen is being triggered by Gate 1 and sent through the MOD1 output to a VCA. Pretty simple.
The issue: when I STOP the nerdseq, sometimes the VCA stays open, so the oscillator is droning. I have the envelope set to ONE SHOT. The thing is, it doesn't do this all the time. Sometimes I stop everything (SHIFT+STOP) and everything stops, some times the VCA stays open and I get a drone.
The only thing I was able to find in the manual is on page 86:
Quote:Possibly a VCA may ‘stay open’ depending on the offset level and any waveforms can still be audible after the release phase if the offset is not set to zero.
But there is no offset on the envelope, so it should just return to zero?
Changing the setting of the offset switch doesn't make a difference (except the drone is quieter if the switch is to the left).
Thanks!

Resetting random playback

Hey nerds!
I was following along with this video which was posted in the discord and practicing using randomness - super fun! I have a nice groove going, but I got stuck trying to develop it.
Just like in the SB Six video, I have a four note bass line going with the combined playback set to random refresh (CBPB 204). I also have the clock divided by 16 (CBPB 005). This works great and gives me a slow, ever changing bass line. Both CBPB effects are set in the FX columns.
The problem is when I switch to the next island down on the same track. I want the clock back to normal and also playback going forward instead of random. I set this in the top row of the FX columns: CBPB 200 for playback next forward and CBPB 009 for regular clock. The issue seems to be that when starting the new pattern, the playback is actually still set to random, so instead of starting on the first row and changing the FX, it just starts somewhere random. Its a 64 step sequence, so it takes a while until that row is randomly triggered. I tried just putting those FX values in every row so that they both trigger immediately, but then the pattern starts moving forward from the first random position thats triggered, meaning the pattern is out of sync with everything else.
Is there any way to start a new pattern on the same track WITHOUT the randomness? Can I set the Nerdseq to always read the first row of a new pattern first, despite previous random playback setting? Do I need some kind of in-between pattern that resets things?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Dynamic gate levels in i2c/multi drummatrix track

Hi,
I'm playing around with a Flame Fire drum module triggered over midi via an i2C track drummatrix. This module supports velocity over midi which is kind of nice. My question is whether there's a way to dynamically change the type of MIDI gate the nerdseq sends out as you play. Right now I can change the track settings for each channel to MIDI_GATE L/M/H to send different velocity information, but I haven't figured out if there's something in the midi part of the track of the mapping matrix that could let me change/override it while playing live?
No big deal if not, just curious as it would be a nice to have thing.

Howdy fellow NerdSeq Mappers! I am working on a stand alone mapping editor and viewer (on GitHub at https://github.com/XORElectronics/mappingeditor). It will make editing and sharing the mapping MUCH easier (as HTML, MD for viewing and JSON for sharing), but I need a wide variety of .MAP files to test it against. If you are happy to share them with me I can start building up a library. Hopefully you are also okay with me adding the mappings to the test files I add to the github repo (if not let me know and I will use them for testing but not add them to the repo). THANKS!
