  Screensaver with external clock
Posted by: interpolate - 01-20-2020, 11:39 PM - Forum: Beauty and less important bugs/glitches - No Replies

I noticed that if I use something else as a master clock (like Pamela's new workout) and plug into the nerdseq clock in, the screensaver will not come on until I shift-stop the Nerdseq, even if the master clock is not running.

Not really sure if this is by design or a bug, but it would really be nice if the screensaver still came on without having to stop all tracks everytime (and start all tracks when I come back).

Btw <3 Nerdseq! Thanks for your concideration.

  Screen Cycle
Posted by: skybox - 01-20-2020, 08:30 AM - Forum: Feature requests - Replies (1)

This would mostly be applicable to midi and sample tracks, but I would love if pressing the Pattern button while inside the Pattern would cycle through each screen as a fast way to navigate.

I imagine in Track 7/8 it would remember its position (column, row) on Sample 1 (Note/TR/FX/Groove) and translate it to Sample 2.

However with MIDI, since each screen is different it would instead just translate the row location on the first column of the next screen (pressing Pattern would cycle Notes -> PC -> FX3 -> Notes, and Shift + Pattern would cycle backwards).

Actually, I think I requested this one time before but not as well thought out. It was way in the back. Sorry about that!

  Intellijel 1u UMidi
Posted by: apeirophobe - 01-19-2020, 07:29 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (2)

Probably a stupid question ....
Does the midi expander have any brains or is it a more simple expander for the nerdseq?  Would it at all be possible to use something like the Intellijel 1u midi to get midi into the nerdseq?

  FX idea: mutation
Posted by: SB-SIX - 01-18-2020, 11:03 AM - Forum: Feature requests - No Replies

Watching the launchpad pro mk3 tutorial, they have an fx called mutation. It alters the note pitch randomly. Higher values have the ability to deviate more from the original note, lower values choose a random note closer to the original.

  Endless Tables Always 16 Steps
Posted by: the_cody - 01-16-2020, 02:58 AM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (3)

Not sure if this is intended or is possibly a bug? If I have a table set to Endless, it seems to ignore any values in the Hop column. It seems if you have a Table set to Endless, you can't have any length other than the full 16 steps. Maybe I'm missing something?

I found a workaround for what I wanted, so it's not like a pressing thing. I just wasn't sure if that was intended or not?

*DONE* CV, Trig, Mod accessibility for MIDI-assigned channels
Posted by: RMBLRX - 01-14-2020, 10:20 PM - Forum: Feature requests - No Replies

One of my biggest lamentations with the release of MIDI channel assignment is that they generally make the channels' respective modular outs useless.  However, a nice little easter-egg of sorts that I found is that this MIDI monopolization of channels can be bypassed by way of FX columns, wherein any channel's FX column can send output through any channel's CV, Trig, or Mod outs.  The problem for me is that this can (apparently) only be used in a rather painstaking manner by inputting each step and in a somewhat more cumbersome manner than is possible in dedicated modular channels (CV only takes voltage values rather than note values, for instance).  There are at least two conceivably simple-ish ways I can imagine to make better use of this promising feature and then one option I view as more ideal but likely more of an imposition:

  1. Allow live and recording input assignment to be routed to the FX column, which might not be the most elegant solution, but would quickly tap into the potential of this feature.
  2. Allow cells copied from existing modular channels to be copied and pasted into an FX column, which would be elegant enough for my purposes, but less useful for live input and recording.  I do think this should be made possible even in the case of either of the other two options being implemented, and how I imagine it working is that the FX column would automatically detect the right kind of modular commands being pasted (automatically selecting the correct FX-type), and perhaps automatically selecting the corresponding channel into which it is being pasted (this can be modified, of course, if a different channel is desired).
  3. Allow the addition of modular columns in MIDI-assigned channels, either in addition to the four voice channels (perhaps between the table and groove columns, indicating that all columns to the left (FX, table, PC, etc.) do not necessarily affect the modular column (unless they affect the tracker progression, of course, like with break and whatnot) or in place of polyphonic voices (many times, polyphony might not be desirable or usable for a particular channel, and it would be nice to have some modular columns apart from a monophonic MIDI column).  In either case, it would also be nice to be able to divvy FX columns between modular and MIDI, if not possible to give them each their own full battery of FX.  I imagine this working in a similar manner to the Sample channels, wherein there are two distinct voices sharing a channel with their own FX, triggers, and whatnot.
That third solution would be ideal and, though probably a greater challenge to implement, seems technically possible, given that we can already send commands simultaneously to all three modular outputs in a MIDI-assigned channel (albeit, in a rather roundabout way).  For my part, this would allow me to take full advantage of all six channels on an OPN2 chip over MIDI without practically sacrificing all the modular output capabilities available on the NerdSEQ.

hello, today my midi expander arrived and i plugged it in right away. how is it supposed to work? i plugged a midi keyboard with channel 1 into the midi in. in project i set midi channel 1 to track 1 record. now i start the sequencer and was hoping that in track 1 i can use the record function. but there are no notes appearing. i checked the midi cable, keyboard with other midi gear and it is working. what could i be doing wrong??

Superbooth 2020 and Clock Changing problems
Posted by: dennis - 01-14-2020, 04:29 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (2)

Hi there!

if i use the SCLK FX to change the Ratio of the clock divider (2,4,6,8,3,5,7... etc.) is it normal that it changes in the NEXT pattern?
i thought it would change as soon as the pattern reaches that specific row where the FX is programmed in, but it seems the pattern runs normal and changes the clock division for the next pattern.....

i think im missing something here?

and also will there be a XOR-Electronics stand at super booth?

cheers, happy new year (and thanks so much for the freestylo)

  Sample Track FX
Posted by: the_cody - 01-13-2020, 07:03 PM - Forum: Feature requests - No Replies

Would it be possible to get a few new FX for the Sample tracks? One to select a note that would override the Note column, one to select a sample that would override the sample column, and, one to select the volume that would override the Volume column.

These would be useful once you get the probability for the FX lanes on the sample tracks.

A couple of use cases:

The Sample column is set to a closed hihat, the first FX selects an open hihat, and then, the second FX could set the probability to like 25% for the first FX. You'd then have the open hihat play 25% of the time instead of the closed hihat.

The Note column is set to C-4, the first FX selects the note of C-5, and then, the second FX could set the probability to like 50% for the first FX. You'd then have the C-5 play 50% of the time instead of the C-4.

*No BUG* Project bug ? Track 1 is running me crazy
Posted by: zerius - 01-13-2020, 08:46 AM - Forum: The really bad bugs -> crash - Replies (5)

I noticed a weird issue that appeared today and it is extremely annoying.
For some reason TRACK 1 is sending constant triggers and CV even when the sequencer is OFF. I tried everything inside this project and can't make it stop. My other TRACKS are fine and when I'm switching to another project it works well, I also tried changing patterns, cables, oscillators, I think it comes from the project directly is there anyway to get if fixe ?

Best,
JP
