Not having your own modular system
Posted by: bas_les_patches - 07-16-2024, 06:02 PM - Forum: General Questions - No Replies

Hello everyone

I have a Nerdseq with 16CV, 16 triggers and the Multi IO interface.
I have a very big modular system and I'd like to leave just with my Nerdseq system which is in a skiff by itself.
Is it possible to program my tracks in modular and route them to Midi channels?
I think it's possible with the matrix, but I haven't figured out how to send CV1 and Trig 1 to channel 1, for example?
This would allow me to have only my tablet in USB Midi and MI RACK to simulate a modular system equivalent to mine.

Thanks for your answers

step value to variable (via mapping)
Posted by: baikul - 07-16-2024, 08:40 AM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (2)

Hello friends, I'm trying to make a mapping but I can't find a way to save the value of a step of a pattern in a variable.

I have pattern 01 with a duration of 8 steps. I want variable A to be the value (note) from step 1, variable B to be step 2 and so on

how can I do this?

  Saga Gamepad pass through expander?
Posted by: kriskeyman - 07-15-2024, 12:10 AM - Forum: NerdSEQ Expanders - Replies (1)

There was a discussion thread happening on socials about adding a pass through expander to this module… so that one could play Mario Kart while sending controller events to the modular.

https://danesidesigns.com/products/hakai...-interface

Immediately thought how cool this could be with Nerdseq, if Sega gamepad controller events could be mapped to specific events in Nerdseq… while playing Sonic for example.

That would be amazing… can you imagine repeat triggers while defeating Dr Robotnik?

Key Groups on Track 7 and 8 (silent march)
Posted by: Renzki - 07-14-2024, 12:38 AM - Forum: Feature requests - Replies (1)

Hey Thomas.

On the advice of a friend, that also uses NerdSeq regularaly, it seems that, even though the sampler was not in high focus at the time, this function would be highly appreciated if it could be implemented, as mentionned in the chat we had yesterday.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnOXlgr6azc&t=214s

Renoise does it, and this would make it much easier for me as I'm a live producer (only human)

Had several tries with the mapping screen without any luck.

Would it be that hard to implement?

Thanks in advance and best regards

Renzki

  Jump recording, stereo samples?
Posted by: digitalartifact - 07-13-2024, 06:22 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (8)

Hi,

I'm about to buy a NerdSEQ in the next couple days, however I need to know if it will do several things to fit my desired workflow.

Namely I will buy an Arturia Keystep along with it and use the MIDI expander for step recording, but I want to be able to jump record. I want to press a note, have it record, then jump forward some user defined amount of steps once the key is released, automatically. This will be important for recording IDM drum patterns quickly and intuitively. Is this possible? If so, how easy is it to change the jump amount on the fly? I've read through some of the manual, but the answer is not clear to me. ChatGPT seems to think it's possible though using the "step jump parameter", but i don't see anything about this in the manual.

Also, as an aside, I just want to confirm that there is stereo sample support on the NerdSEQ along with panning effects? Reading the product page makes it seem like this is a feature with the more recent firmware updates: "Sample support for RAW 8 bit mono and WAV 8/16 bit, Mono/Stereo"

Thanks

starting an LFO from the FX column CV16
Posted by: jcgam - 07-13-2024, 02:42 AM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (7)

On an empty project I assigned track 1 to the CV16, and added "ST A" "0004" to FX column 1, which should start an LFO on the CV1 output after I press Start, but it doesn't.  If I press Patch twice I can see that LFO 1 has a moderate speed and amplitude.  Is LFO 1 the target of "ST A"?

  Row Highlighting per project
Posted by: wpinbacker - 07-11-2024, 09:26 PM - Forum: Feature requests - Replies (1)

Hello!

It would be nice to have a project-level row highlight number to optionally override the Setup Screen default, or maybe just move the setting to the Project Screen? I've been doing one song per project, often in different time signatures, and that visual aid is really helpful.

Not the biggest deal for sure, but this would save me a step as I go from song to song.

Thanks for listening!

  Mapping strangely stops working
Posted by: zeitkunst - 07-11-2024, 12:04 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (6)

Hello,

I have a strange problem that I'm trying to diagnose. I use mapping with triggers to the four inputs to advance four tracks at differing rates (basically a different clock for each track). Recently I am having an issue where when I first turn on the Nerdseq and start the tracks this mapping works as expected, but then if I stop those tracks for a while, and then try and start them again, the tracks are not being advanced (even though the incoming triggers are still present, confirmed by using those triggers outside of Nerdseq, but also by seeing the values change on the mapping screen). I am at a loss as to how to approach this because I can't figure out what causes this issue. I've reformatted my SD card but the problem still exists. I'm on v2.01.

Note that things work properly using the internal clock, so it's also not an issue with the outputs.

I've attached my project file if this helps at all.

Thanks for any suggestions!

  I2C Y-cable anyone?
Posted by: mgd - 07-09-2024, 11:53 AM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (1)

Hi Nerds,

I have two Sweet Sixteen mkII (possibly three) that I'd like put on one of my I2C busses. Where or how do I get a I2C Y-cable to connect them in a chain?
Do I have to make them myself (if so, a brief HowTo rundown would be nice), or does anyone know of them ready made?

Kind regards,
Michael

  I2c local cv+trig
Posted by: OhJay - 07-09-2024, 08:53 AM - Forum: Feature requests - No Replies

Could we have local CV+ trig in addition to the local CV + gate on the i2c track?

(Edit:On closer inspection, there are actually many “workarounds” that can lead to super interesting results. Probably better results than I had in mind in the first place)
