  I2C Settings with F8R, CVM8, Just Friends?
Posted by: kriskeyman - 07-09-2024, 02:34 AM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (22)

Hello,

I've had Nerdseq working great with F8R & Just Friends over I2C, and just added a CVM8 to the mix.

However, I've think I've come to the realization that I cannot use all together in I2C settings?... or can I?

I have the following combos working great with F8R (I2CB) & CVM8 (I2CA) connected to Multi-IO + Nerdseq in same skiff.
Just Friends is in external case, connected to Multi-IO via I2CA 3.5MM TRS > XOXO MIDI+I2C Breakout.

F8R + Just Friends w/ I2C settings as follows:
I2C A Mode: Out
I2C A In Address: Hex: 70 Dec: 112 (but Just Friends continues to work even if this is not set to 70, but set as 70 in the I2C/Multi track)
I2C B Mode: 16N -> NS 1-16
I2C B In Address: Hex: 31 Dec: 49
Works great!

F8R + CVM8 w/ I2C settings as follows:
I2C A Mode: 16N -> NS 17-32
I2C A In Address: Hex: 31 Dec: 49
I2C B Mode: 16N -> NS 1-16
I2C B In Address: Hex: 31 Dec: 49
Works great!

... but attempting to make them all work together makes Just Friends stop playing in sound mode (but rebooting only Nerdseq fixes it), and CVM8 behave wonky when CV input is inserted into CVM8. I attempted setting the following to make them all work together, as 'I2C A Mode: Out' seemed to be required to make Just Friends respond to I2C at all.

So I've tried...

I2C A Mode: Out
I2C A In Address: Hex: 31 Dec: 49
I2C B Mode: 16N -> NS 1-16
I2C B In Address: Hex: 31 Dec: 49

I2C A Mode: Out
I2C A In Address: Hex: Hex: 70 Dec: 112
I2C B Mode: 16N -> NS 1-16
I2C B In Address: Hex: 31 Dec: 49

I2C A Mode: Out
I2C A In Address: Hex: 72 Dec: 114 (thinking having it set to anything other than 70 or 31 may resolve the issue, in case that is somehow causing a collision)
I2C B Mode: 16N -> NS 1-16
I2C B In Address: Hex: 31 Dec: 49

... but all 3 seem to have the same result of Just Friends stops generating sound as soon as I plug CV into the CVM8. I'd think that because I have them all connected via hardware that I should be able to get them to work in software... so something I'm doing wrong?

Huh

TIA!

P.S. After reviewing again in manual, saw bit about 'The Address is not in use if the I2C Port is in Leader Mode'... so that makes sense why changing I2C A In Address seemed to not make a difference.

So maybe I'm expecting I2C A to support separate Modes because it has two hardware connections... but maybe not within spec or something the software does not currently support?

Photo Trying to jump to another pattern
Posted by: Manbearpig - 07-07-2024, 03:42 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (4)

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong here.

1st image: at the end of the pink block: pattern 20/track 1/row 21, I want to jump to pattern 1B/track 1/row 23 and play out the green block of patterns. What happens instead is that at the end of pattern 20, it jumps to pattern 27, which plays out then goes to the top of the green block.

2nd image: the command i'm trying to use so it jumps to row 23 at the end of pattern 20 (start seq pattern: track 1, row 23). Hope my question is clear! Thanks in advance.

  1 Tick = ?
Posted by: joesh - 07-05-2024, 05:18 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (5)

I was looking (again) at triggers and gates, and wondered, how long is a tick?

D0 = ?

And, I imagine that one step (E0) = 00 > 01 = 1 step?

I'm asking this, as sometimes it seems that if you set the auto fill trigger (and) default trigger type to E0, sometimes there seems to be no trigger, especially if you place a note on several following steps (ex: Row 00, 01, 02, 03). Seems a bit odd, but if I need a very snappy melody, it seems safer to put 10 in the trigger column.

  MIDI-IO Expander Not Recognised ver.2.01A
Posted by: Joscuzz - 06-25-2024, 10:56 AM - Forum: NerdSEQ Expanders - Replies (3)

I've had my MIDI-IO (original expander not Mulit-IO) boxed and stored for quite sometime and hardly used at all TBH. I picked up an Arturia Keystep37 a few days ago and decided to restore the MIDI-IO expander to my case. Unfortunately, the connections for MIDI in the 'Input/Record' set up menu are not available??

I have connected the module to the 'Pad/MIDI' connector, assigned MIDI to channel 1 in Nerdseq via the 'Track Assign' menu and saved the project. When I go to 'Input/Record', there are no options to activate or assign MIDI Input. I have referred to manual, but I'm lost as to what has happened?

Does version 2.01A disable the older MIDI-OI? The module has been stored in its original packaging in a dry & smoker-free environment so I would be very surprised if it has a fault.

Please advise.

Thank you.

  Any digitakt users?
Posted by: Zosimos - 06-24-2024, 05:51 PM - Forum: General Questions - No Replies

If so, how do you use your Nerdseq with it?

Do you try to compose on the Nseq or use the Digitakt's sequencer?

  More Options in i2c/multi track
Posted by: Zosimos - 06-24-2024, 05:49 PM - Forum: Feature requests - Replies (1)

Im not sure if this is possible or if there is a sensible work around, but I would love if you could use any of the parts of the track for use with midi.

I imagine:
    Destination 1: Midi TC1.
    ...
    Matrix 1: Midi DC1
    Matrix 2: Midi DC2

What do you think?

  Midi to CV converter
Posted by: therockfrog - 06-19-2024, 08:15 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (2)

Hi.

I'd like to use the Nerseq occasionally as a midi to cv converter with my pyramid.   Someone over at Elektronauts said you can do that but it's limited in that it does not let you do glides or longer notes or microtiming, etc.    Dont understand that as my Hermod and Eloquencer just let the Midi through to the CV/gate outs, has nothing to do with the internal sequencers as they are ignored when using them as midi to cv converters.

Just checking here if a normal midi to cv converter is what the nerdseq allows or does it block certain midi signals?

Thanks.

  FIXED] Backward command unmutes audio track
Posted by: beep.et.cetera - 06-14-2024, 11:41 PM - Forum: Beauty and less important bugs/glitches - Replies (1)

Hi
I've had a great time opening up the playability of the nerdseq. The mapping screen is incredible! Great work!

I'm using the audio tracks and have them set up so that track 7 contains a main beat on 7.1 and a hi-hats on 7.2. I mapped 2 MIDI notes to mute and unmute the two channels individually. However when I have backward commands on a track, it unmutes the the channel, meaning I can't do reverse snares. (a travesty <3)

  Video on controlling Chainsaw osc. via NerdSEQ

If you are interested in controlling the Chainsaw oscillator via chords from the NerdSEQ, this video is for you. Plus a shoutout for the upcoming XOR Dualchord, which will likely do some of the same things. https://youtu.be/xyZnbqTqfrg
