| CV recording into CV16 for CV automation |

I want to record cv using live input (e.g.1) to the selected CV16 channel.
Is it possible to record CV for every step without inputting a gate at the time where it should be recorded?
For me, every step 1 value recorded would be OK in. In case there is no cv change, no value is needed.
My idea is to use CV out of CV16 to automate VCAs and other parameters by live recording this using a slider with cv out into the live input CV 1. Is this possible without gates to another input (e.g. CV input 2)?
Or is the idea to set up a trigger (e.g. clock) to fire recording, as if the CV values were for single “notes”?
(E.g. feeding the clock into CV2 to get the triggers on every step while recording?)
Recording the step edit using a gate I got to work, but not the continuous live recording on CV16, i have to move with the cursor to select the value and put a gate on to record this step.
Is there maybe a workaround with mapping? Or am I doing something wrong?
I know I can use slew to get smoothing of the value changes, which is nice!

| Convert bipolar to unipolar with CALC mapping source? |

Can i convert a bipolar CV input to behave as unipolar in Mappings?
I tried the following:
11 I2C SCCV #11 (CVM-8 input)
12 CALC ADD 11|VF > MCON TC 9 #3
… which seems to offset like I expect, but the -5/0 CV input never registers. It is not until CV reaches 0/+5 that MCON receives a change.
I’d like to have the full bipolar input behave like unipolar 0-10V. Right now it’s behaving like 0-5V, dropping what’s happening from -5 to 0.

| FX issue on CV 16 |

Hi,
I feel a bit dumb for few days now...
I was using a track with the CV16 and it was working perfectly.
I don't exactly know what I did, probably something with the FX but now there is no cv output from that track.
FX 1 and 2 doesn't work (or are skipped) as well whereas FX3 is working well.
In the meantime I use other outputs on another track without any problem.
So I don't think that it is a hardware issue.
I guess it comes from a FX setting but I can't find out which one.
Any idea ??

| need help with note /gate input w/ midi keyboard |

Hi there,
I'm struggling to get note/gate step input working. I have a midi keyboard (tried both AKIA MPK mini III and Arturia Keystep 37) running on CH01 connected to the Multi I/O host.
Input Record Setup:
Input 1: CV Note+Gate 2 ( want to record into track #02)
Input 2 5ms Dly
Midi Setup:
Host Channel 1 > Track 2 record
When pressing a key, the cursur seems to jump to random steps in the pattern, but nothing else happens
Track 2 is MODULAR
What am I missing? Thanks for your help

| Pattern Screen Follow |

On the pattern screen is there a way to make Nerdseq follow the notes to the second page while playing? I mean if there are more than 16 steps that it switches to the second screen(page) like page down.

The MOD output of one of my tracks does not output modulation values. It look like it's outputting sort of envelope linked to thetrigger or notes. I can't get behind it. In an other Empty pattern of the same track it works fine, as soon as I put in a note and trigger it does not respect the mod value any more. I resetted effects in Nerd Page and by SPFX 00A.

| MIDI CC/NRPN Intercept + Pass-Through Routing |

TL;DR:
Allow NerdSEQ to pass MIDI data through unchanged, while selectively intercepting specific CC/NRPN messages, remapping them, and routing them back to the same (or another) MIDI output.
Detailed description:
I’d like to propose a feature that allows NerdSEQ to act as a transparent MIDI pass-through, with the option to selectively intercept and modify specific MIDI messages.
Use case (example):
I’m using a Moog Sub 37 with Local Control off.
My goal is to:
- Send all MIDI from the Sub 37 into NerdSEQ
- Let all MIDI data pass through unchanged by default
- Intercept specific CC or NRPN messages
- Modify/remap those messages in the Mapping Editor
- Send the modified messages back to the Sub 37 (or another MIDI output)
This would allow NerdSEQ to function as a MIDI “middleware” processor without breaking the normal controller → synth workflow.
Relation to existing features:
This feels closely related to the already implemented MCC (MIDI CC mapping) feature.
Currently, MCC can block or consume incoming messages, but once intercepted, the message does not automatically continue to the desired output unless re-generated. This means i would have to generate a pass through for everything else I want to tweak on the Sub37 as well.
What I’m imagining is something like an additional MCC mode, conceptually similar to MCC|
Where:- The incoming MIDI message is sampled/intercepted
- Optionally modified via the Mapping Editor
- Then routed forward to a specified MIDI output (including the original source device)
I am not quite sure if this is already possible with some funky nerd logic (probably)... But i would find it way simpler to set it up with:
MCC| TC1 #CC19 --> SET VAR A SRC
Do some funky stuff whith CC19 wihle every thing else is passed-through
SET VAR A SRC --> MCC TC1#CC19 SRC.
If its already possible, please tell me. I would be super thankfull!
Best regards

| How to set min/max for variable in Mappings? |

I’ve been using external attenuators to limit the amount of incoming CV to use as a mapping source, but would really like to do this all in Mappings going forward.
I currently have:
0A I2C SCCV #10 > SETV V C SRC
0B VAR # C SRC > TRCK TRK1 MUTE
I tried adding:
CALC RNGE VC|VC > SETV V C
… but I cannot modify min/max on the variable screen (if I’m even doing this correctly… probably not!)
Is there a way to set min max for the incoming CV (going to CVM-8), before it mutes TRK1?

| Send PC always pre for queued patterns |

Hi,
I’ve noticed a few things while using MIDI Program Changes with my Elektron Analog Rytm MK1.
First of all, the “always pre” MIDI Program Change behavior is extremely useful when working with Elektron machines — thanks a lot for that!
Current behavior - Nerdseq can send MIDI Program Change messages always pre, as described in the manual.
- The Program Change is sent roughly 5 steps in advance.
- This allows pattern changes on Elektron gear to happen reliably on the next pattern boundary, as long as there is a pattern already playing.
In most cases this works perfectly, but I’ve noticed a few edge cases where this behavior could potentially be improved.
Issue 1: No previously playing pattern
If there is no pattern currently playing before a pattern that contains a Program Change:- The Program Change is not sent early
- As a result, the Elektron machine switches patterns one pattern late
I know there’s no way (yet) for Nerdseq to read minds, but… ?
Feature request
Send the Program Change as soon as a queued pattern contains a Program Change, even if no pattern was playing before.
If the user queues the next pattern before the “always pre” step is reached, the Program Change would still be sent in time and result in the expected behavior on the Elektron machine.
Issue 2: FX BRK jump to step 0
When BRK is set to jump to step 0 in the FX section:- The Program Change is still sent
- This causes the Elektron pattern to switch back and forth
While this behavior is understandable (because of the always pre setting), it can be a bit annoying in practice.
I understand that it’s probably not possible to look far enough ahead to detect an upcoming BRK jump in advance. However, maybe there could be:- A way to ignore Program Changes in this specific case, or
- An option to disable “always pre” for Program Changes triggered via the FX section
…though ideally, Program Changes should still be sent if I queue up the next pattern.
So maybe an option to suppress or better handle Program Changes in this specific situation could help.
Thanks for considering this request, and thanks again for your continued support of Nerdseq — it’s an amazing sequencer!
Best regards
