Triple 16n faderbank controls using X,Y,Z

I was thinking it would be cool if the parameters that a 16n faderbank controlled could depend on the selection of x,y,z on the multi-io, essentially tripling the amount of controls. This could be implementing by adding mapping assignments for X,Y,Z to the i2c inputs in the mapping screen?

I am very curious what external keyboard everyone is using and what their experiences are? I love the keys on the NerdSeq but want to move to an external keyboard using the expander for ergonomics and also more control. What is everyone using? Am looking for something minimalistic (small size) with a mechanical keyboard that feels very similar to the NerdSeq.

Implement Disting I2C note events

Hi Thomas,
would it be possible to implement the I2C note commands for the Disting EX as well?
If I understand the current implementation correct, you implemented the the commands for the disting (EX.Vxx) using the voice commands on the disting (0x51, 0x52,0x53)
which explicitly address the voices on the disting.
It would be very nice to have also the note commands (0x54,0x55,0x56) because they behave a bit different on the disting, eg. these would be mapped to the voices on the disting using the same round robin method as midi notes.
Best way to implement this may be another option to select which method to use (voice or note), since you send the note/voice off command on stop and these are different commands for the different methods.
I'd very much like to hear what you are thinking about this.
Best regards
recliq

Sending MIDI notes from a pattern in an I2C/Multi track

So I am trying to send MIDI notes from an I2C/Multi track in the pattern screen. I managed to send MIDI notes from the drum matrix by setting it to "MIDI TRxx", a channel and note, but this doesn't exist for the first six columns in the pattern screen (as also stated in the manual). How do I then send a specific note from the pattern screen (with given mods) via MIDI using the MIDI TRS-A out port? Sending CV by setting the destination as CV-MOD works, but this is not what I need. I tried setting the destination to MAPPING, and then in the mapping screen specifying GLOB SEQV (as suggested in the manual) as the source and MIDI (+ a corresponding channel) as destination but this doesn't work.

I am happy to provide you a new release candidate (as in: public beta) for the upcoming NerdSEQ firmware V3.0 as well as the upcoming Video Expander Firmware V3.0.
This is an update for the NerdSEQ and another update if you also got a Video Expander (VEX).
Please follow this update order:
1. Copy the NerdSEQ firmware (unpacked, 'nerdseq.hex') into the firmware folder of the NerdSEQ SD Card.
2. (optional) Copy the video expander firmware (unpacked, 'vex_3_0_rc1.vex') into the firmware folder of the NerdSEQ SD Card.
3. (optional) Unpack the 'shaders.zip' file onto the NerdSEQ SD Card root (Unpacking will create a folder on the NerdSEQ root called 'shaders'.) The shaders in that folder are a collection of fragment shaders taken from different (open) sources. Most of the shaders run as they are (all files that start with SHxx) but are not enhanced yet to be used with all the NerdSEQ modulations.
4. Update the NerdSEQ firmware (follow the firmware update rules https://forum.xor.eu/showthread.php?tid=4 and if you get stuck there and it doesn't work, read the many threads and the manual about it and it will be fine!! Updating the NerdSEQ always works!)
5. (optional) With the new NerdSEQ firmware V3.0 running, update the Video Expander firmware. Go to Setup->Expander FW Update. Choose the firmware file: VEX_3_0_RC1.VEX and press OK. Choose Update Now and it will start the update. Once finished it will show the detected new video expander firmware.
The Video Expander must be enabled and fully working already to be able to do the update. That means also that both cables, the 12 pin (midi) and the 14 pin (NSA) ribbon cables must be connected with the NerdSEQ (and be sure you don't break the SD Card if the 12 pin cable has not been installed yet. The usual hotplug rules apply)!
For the video synthesis functionality please check the latest version of the manual on github:
https://github.com/XORElectronics/nerdSEQ_docs
The manual is not ready and not formated well but all the video functionality is described well in there and it is worth to check it out as many questions will be answered upfront! I will update the manual in the next days so it is ready together with the release.
Check out the new things for V3.0 here:
Dualchord
- added dualchord presets
- added dualchord preset import/export

- reduced amount of patches and increased amount of patch rows (fixes dualchord patch bug)
Video Expander / Video Synthesis
- added video synthesizer functionality with the use of glsl shaders
- added new video expander firmware update which uses the .VEX extension
- added Video destinations to mappings
- added shortcut to enter video project screen (PROJECT button twice) only if the VEX got Firmware 3.0

- added 6 possible executable columns for tables
- added table -> no note/retrigger 'transpose command' '***'
- added velocity overrule FX to midi which can be used to have in/decreasing volumes combined with tables (midi delay)
- added clock in auto-start on demand
- fixed clock settings from track setup menu
- Shift+F9 on keyboard switches to video project screen
- fixed set CV16 note from mapping
- updated ART commands to send CC, Portamento, Pitchbend etc, fixed transpose issue with ART notes

- added live globaltranspose update
- fixed record to audio track 8 from Midi
- fixed mapping overflow of automator values with an offset
- added scale direction setting in mappings
- fixed wrong text for midi mapping source commands (eg program change)
As usual, this is a release candidate. It is not intended for productive use as I can't guarantee that they are no unexpected side effects. Also saved projects will guaranteed work for the release version but are not backwards compatible to 2.03 or earlier. So be aware to backup your projects / SD Card first!!! (Which is something you should do anyways from time to time)
It is important that they are enough people testing this version and that I get enough feedback about it.
With installing and testing you help getting the version ready for stable use. I aim for a release within 1-2 weeks!!
Please report any issues with this version only in this thread and not in the bug reports!
Download the release candidate firmwares below.

Combining Multi-IO and 2hp Midi expander

Hi there,
I imagine this is a silly question but I cannot find the answer in the manual and been trying to find a solution by menu-diving for more time than I'd like with no success so figured I'd ask here.
I have both the multi-io and 2hp midi expander, with the multi-io receiving midi directly from the nerdseq and passing it on via the 12 pin ribbon cable to the 2hp midi expander. If I connect a TRS cable into the multi-io TRS out I am able to send midi notes just fine, but if I move the same cable to the midi expander no signal is sent. Am I missing something in the settings? Do I need to change a setting somewhere to turn the 2hp midi expander "on"?

Hi there! Very interested in this combination. I have CVM8 working now (thanks primarily to SynthBlu's great YouTube tutorial) and based on that video also invested into the F8R faderbank for additional modulation controls. Now my interested has shifted to adding TeleType for adding programmatic control and curious if this combination is possible? Has anyone successfully combined these? What settings would need to be altered to make these modules mesh smoothly with the NerdSeq?
