midi pattern : tie midi notes (legato)
Posted by: Martineh - 10-28-2024, 11:08 AM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (4)

Hello Thomas and everyone,

I've been a happy owner of the NerdSeq for a couple of months, sorry in advance if this is a noob question, I couldn't found any information in the manual.

While sequencing a monophonic synth with midi from the Nerdseq, I'm trying to achieve legato (changing the pitch of the note without retriggering the filter enveloppe, and allowing the synth to add glide on tied notes only).

Is it possibile somehow to tie midi notes in a midi track pattern ?

In addition, would it be possible to shorten the duration of a midi note inside a step?
The same way that, on modular track patterns, we can set the gate length per step & let the gate ON for consecutives steps.

Best,

Martin

  Quick Lauchpad Pro Question
Posted by: NeilParfitt - 10-25-2024, 09:38 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (1)

I'm sure I'm missing something super dumb ..

I'm on the page where I can see all the patterns broken into multiple pages so i can engage multiple trigger outs at once and hop pages to get from step 1-8, 9-16 and so on.. and program all ie: 8 triggers at a time.

But how do i see a single trigger's steps 1-64 on the buttons at the same time so i can program all the steps in one go without hopping pages?

[FIXED]Pitch to Note 1 semitone lower
Posted by: septcercles - 10-21-2024, 06:43 PM - Forum: Beauty and less important bugs/glitches - Replies (2)

Hi,

I can't get why, surely i missed something obvious...

Mapping screen :

CV CV 2 > CV PITCH CV 1     Works as expected

02:  CV CV2
03 : CALC P2NT 02=0 > CV NOTE CV1       Output note 1 semitone lower

And by the way what is the Z operand doing for P2NT ?

Thanks a lot for any help Smile

Reset Out Nerdseq To Circadian Rhythms
Posted by: aulicon - 10-16-2024, 04:36 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (3)

Hello community,
Proud owner of Nerdseq here. I've been trying to clock my tip top audio circadian rhythms from the nerdseq and I can't get the reset to work properly. The nerdseq reset out works great with my other sequencers, just the CR seems to have this issue. I tried using a note trigger out from the "more triggers 16" expander and that seems to work. However its not very practical and I would like to avoid that if possible. Any idea?
Thanks!

  CV16 as Mapping source
Posted by: baikul - 10-15-2024, 08:44 AM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (2)

On a CV16 track I have patterns with different values for all their steps.
Column 1 goes to cv16-1, column 2 to cv16-2 and so on for the 6 columns.
It is possible to use the values of each output of cv16 as inputs in the mapping.
For example I would like to transpose the values that come out of cv16-1 and send them to CV16-10
How could I do it?

*SOLVED* Cursor Jumping Multiple Positions On All Screens
Posted by: Sparkyy - 10-12-2024, 05:37 PM - Forum: The really bad bugs -> crash - Replies (9)

Hi there, i'm a 5-year NerdSeq owner and have mostly read on here for guidance and the wealth of knowledge Thomas and everyone here has. This is my first post, and I believe i've gone through all guildelines to no avail. I hope someone can help

I have searched the forum for any other users with this issue, read the manual etc. Nothing yet

Basically I installed the latest Firmware in my nerdseq and installed my video I/O expander. All running great with no issues.

Then out of nowhere my cursor just started jumping multiple positions everywhere. On every screen this happens and I'm not sure if its a button/hardware issue?

Basically one click of the cursor up or down makes it move two and sometimes three places. Making a simple selection in any screen requires you to use the cursor up and down many times before you get lucky and it lands on the proper place you wanted to get to.

I've tried re-installing the firmware, soft resetting and it's still doing it. I'm posting the issue here because it makes it very hard to navigate anything on NerdSeq and alot more time comsuming.

I've also noticed now that the startup screen flashes white twice instead of once as it did before. Not sure if this is related or not but I thought i'd mention it.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!!

[NO BUG] Output from automator not visible
Posted by: donsmith - 10-12-2024, 12:59 AM - Forum: Beauty and less important bugs/glitches - Replies (2)

When sending an LFO or CV input to a track's CV or Mod destination, the value changes are not visible in the Sequencer, Pattern or Current Values screens. This visual cue would be really helpful without having to go to the Automator screen to verify the slot is playing - the horizontal animation on the Automator screen is working for me, just not anywhere else. I couldn't find anything in the manual to indicate these value changes shouldn't be showing up everywhere. For example, output from the Envelopes do provide a visual indicator on these different screens. Also, voltage changes ARE being correctly sent to the output jack. Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong to see the visual cues. Thanks!

  Select Random Sample
Posted by: kilgore - 10-10-2024, 11:50 AM - Forum: Feature requests - Replies (2)

Hey there!
I love my Nerdseq and use it in everything! One "wish" I stumbled upon recently would be the option to have the Nerdseq randomly select a sample from the sample bank on tracks 7 and 8.
It would work similarly to random note or CV selection. When selecting the Sample or Wavetype (2nd column in the pattern screen) there would be just one extra option to choose a random sample from the current sample bank. I think this could be a fun way to add variation to rhythmic figures!

  Muting CV inputs 1-4
Posted by: rubberband - 09-30-2024, 06:23 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (2)

Hello nerds,

Is it possible to mute the CV inputs 1-4 programmatically?

My use case:

I have two sequencers that output pitch and gate, patched into the nerdseq's CV inputs 1-4, which are routed to notes and gates on two modular tracks.

This works perfectly, the sequencers do their thing, and all their pitch and gate flows through the nerdseq with an empty pattern playing on the modular tracks.  This simplifies patching for performance.  It's also nice to be able to record things into patterns when I'm just messing around.

At some points in a live set though, I want to disable sequencer input and use pre-programmed patterns on the modular tracks.  Ideally I'd want to XMAP something in row 00 of an empty pattern that lets the CV inputs through, and this pattern loops whenever I'm using the sequencers.  Then in row 00 of another pattern with notes and gates programmed in, XMAP something that mutes the CV inputs and lets the pattern's own notes only play.

Right now I can do this outside the nerdseq with VCAs and things, but being able to do it internally would be less complicated and would free up a bunch of HP and cables.  No big deal if it's not a feature right now, but wanted to ask in case I didn't need to put more time into solving a problem that doesn't have to be a problem.  Smile

Also FYI the closest I've got to implementing this 100% inside the NerdSeq.. in this example sending sequencer pitch and gates through CV inputs 1 and 2 to modular track 2 only when asked to..

Assign VC inputs 1-4 to NONE in the main menu
In a pattern where I want sequencer input to flow through the nerdseq

SKIP 03 = =0=0
CTRL XMAP  2RW
CV   IN 1      > CV   NOTE  CV  2
CV   IN 2      > TRIG TRIG  CV  2

This technically works, but I can hear some artifacts in the pitch when I use this approach (I don't hear them if I run the pitch from the sequencer directly to the oscillator v/oct input).  Probably because the XMAP being executed at the beginning of a step isn't perfectly aligned with the pitch being generated by the sequencer?

Step record of CV in values
Posted by: blissomatic - 09-25-2024, 04:38 PM - Forum: General Questions - No Replies

Hi!

I've looked around trying to figure this one out for a while but without any luck.

Is it possible to set/record specific values for example in the MOD column in edit mode (step by step), by inputting the value from CV in, which I'm sending from a CV fader? I know you can do something similar with Cursor Record, but this seems to only input notes and gates. I'd love to be able to insert exact CV values that reflect the settings I can hear on for example a filter when passing CV input to MOD output to ie. create precise rhythmic jumps in the cutoff or save certain sweet spots found when playing around with a CV controller.

I've been enjoying something similar, by sequencing voltage levels with the Malekko Voltage Block but I'd love if I could do this in a much more precise and flexible way!

Thanks for the help and for creating such a great module!
