  Sequencing the modular and many polys.
Posted by: Liquidcolor - 09-24-2024, 04:39 PM - Forum: Your Setup - No Replies

I’m using the Nerd to sequence the modular, a Korg OpSix, Roland MKS-70 with Vecoven PWM, Yamaha DX7 and FS1R.

I can’t think of any other hardware sequencer that would give me this much flexibility.

Thanks again Thomas!

  MIDI CC mapping does not respond to step change
Posted by: originaljimdandy - 09-23-2024, 11:19 PM - Forum: Beauty and less important bugs/glitches - Replies (1)

I made this mapping:

MIDICC TR 102 > CV CV6

And added an automation track to Studio One. Now it worked fine with a ramp - I could see the values go up to the final value on the mapping screen.

But, when I make the CC a step the change does not occur. The odd thing is, when I pause the transport, the mapping does get the expected value.

Using the Studio One MIDI monitor I do see the CC sent at play start (0 value) and then once at the final value (first screenshot) At pause, the CC is sent a couple more times and the Nerdseq picks that up (highlighted in the second picture).

It seems like it should be taking the CC value on the first message, but what I know about the MIDI spec is negligible.

  [FIXED] More Triggers 16 Minor Bug
Posted by: theb_roll - 09-18-2024, 05:38 PM - Forum: Beauty and less important bugs/glitches - No Replies

Hi!  I just wanted to report a minor bug I noticed while using the Trigger 16 on Firmware 2.01.  Not a big deal but I noticed as I was scrolling through the trigger functions that triggers 21-2F come labeled as Delayed Gate XXms when in actuality they are Retrigger X 10ms.  Everything works as expected, just the labelling appears incorrect.

Cheers!

  Is anyone discussing the manual?
Posted by: soggybag - 09-17-2024, 03:06 AM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (1)

I’d like to contribute some edits to the English version of the Nerdseq manual. The English is good but there is some awkward grammar, in my opinion a few things could be expressed more clearly.

Is there a discussion of the manual somewhere?

Music Home jam
Posted by: blofeld - 09-15-2024, 06:30 PM - Forum: Everything Else - No Replies

Hey

a 40 min home jam, mostly Detroit, some Acid.
Nerdseq is main clock, controls Demon Core Oscillator and Bitbox over Midi. Does all the transitions and handles lots of drums, the synth seq are all generative. Enjoy.

  Tempo clocked LFO
Posted by: phantazm - 09-15-2024, 04:25 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (10)

What is the proper way to create a tempo clocked LFO.  I've tried using Automations N*STEPS/STEPS but it is way too fast even at the lowest speed.  Also, I'm using the CV16 expander.

Thanks

  theb_roll's mapping collection
Posted by: theb_roll - 09-15-2024, 07:22 AM - Forum: Mappings - No Replies

Hi! I've got an interest in playing around with the mappings screen and discovering new ways to use it.  I feel like I'm just starting to get to know it.  I'm not particularly good at programming, so rather than posting each mapping into a separate thread I figured I might as well collect them all my into a single thread.  They're likely not going to be too complex, but maybe useful and a fun starting point for going further with it.

The first one - I figured out today

CLOCK DIVIDER

00: GLOB - SRUN
01: CALC - IF = 00=0 --> SETV - RW07 - RST
02: VAR - # A - #010
03: VAR - # B - #020
04: - - - -
05: - - - -
06: GLOB - CLKO --> TRIG - TRIG - TR1
07: CALC - CNT - 06=0
08: CALC - MOD - 07=2 --> TRIG - TRIG - TR2
09: CALC - MOD - 07=4 --> TRIG - TRIG - TR3
0A: CALC - MOD - 07=8 --> TRIG - TRIG - TR4
0B: CALC - MOD - 07VA --> TRIG - TRIG - TR5
0C: CALC - MOD - 07VB --> TRIG - TRIG - TR6

Starting with row00, GLOB - SRUN gives you either a 1 if the sequencer is running or a 0 if it's stopped.  Row01 checks row00 to see whether the clock is on or off (1 or 0). If it's off (0), then it sends a 0 to row07 to reset the clock counter.  Row 07 is the clock counter.  It counts the rising edge of row06 which is the GLOBAL Clock Out.  Rows08 - 0C, the Modulos rows, each of them listens to row07 (the CLK Counter) and counts up with it, but then wraps back to 0 based on the division set by the second number (2, 4, 8, VA, VB).  VA and VB are basically just variables, which I set to 16 and 32 at rows 02 and 03 for longer divisions.   All the TRIG output destinations listen for the number 1 (I think) so they are triggered whenever each of the Modulos wraps around and hits 1.  Because I reset to 0 whenever I stop the sequencer, 1 is the first tick of the clock and so things stay in sync with the patterns.

Maybe over-explained it a bit but it's useful for me anyways.  Hope it makes sense!  Thinking of heading down the path of creating a sequential switch based on the clock divider and using it to switch note sources for a particular CV output.

Hope this helps! Cheers!

An additional basic mapping which actually took me a lot of trial and error but was given the answer from Thomas (XORadmin).

It's a PRECISION ADDER mapping which adds together the note values from TRK1 and TRK2 and then outputs the sum out of the MOD1 output.

00: TRCK - TRK1 - NOTE
01: TRCK - TRK2 - NOTE
02: CALC - ADD - 0001 --> CV - NOTE - MOD1

That's pretty much it!  Simple but fun to play with.

  How to record midi notes in i2c track?
Posted by: digitalartifact - 09-14-2024, 09:09 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (2)

Hi, I have TRS 1 channel 1 going into step input which works for the modular and midi tracks, but the i2c track does not recognize any input.

How can I press a note on my midi keyboard and have that note immediately placed at my cursor in the i2c track?

I tried MIDI TC 1 NOTE > TRCK TRK1 CRNT to place a note at my cursor, but it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

  [NO BUG] Sega Controller laggy-ish / Requires two inputs to perform function
Posted by: kr0nus - 09-13-2024, 04:40 AM - Forum: Beauty and less important bugs/glitches - Replies (8)

Hello there!

I'm returning back to my Nerdseq after not using it for a bit. I use a 6 button official Sega Genesis controller. In checking the Sega Gamepad Settings screen, all buttons seem to be responsive and without issue, lighting up the little lights next to each one but in actually trying to navigate the device, inputs seem to be dropping, usually (but not always) requiring two or more presses to actually perform a function such as moving up or down a row on the screen or going to any of the sub-screens. I'm on version 2.01A and utilizing the Gamepad 4U extender with the Multi-IO expander.

I've tried creating a new project, to no avail, as well as a few power cycles and ensuring the controller is properly seated into the port.

Any ideas? It makes the controller functionality fairly unusable for me as it is.

Thanks!

  How to record polyphonic MIDI and clone to expanderz
Posted by: eliclement - 09-10-2024, 08:43 PM - Forum: General Questions - Replies (4)

Does anyone know how I can record polyphonic MIDI input (using Korg nanokey via the 2hp TRS midi expander) in a I2C/MULTI track and have the channels 1-6 pitch routed to the More CV Expander and the gates to the More Triggers expander?
I can do it using the local CV + Trigger + Mod. But I would like to use my expanders for this so I have my local outputs available for other stuff…
